Awful image. But cracks are really starting to appear everywhere in this Trump administration. Let’s force them open.

Honestly, I don’t know how you can utter phrases like β€˜As a mother’ and β€˜Empathy from the President’, and then go home and sleep at night.

Tories to pledge to create immigration taskforce modelled on Trump’s Ice Proposed β€˜removals force’ will be tasked with deporting 150,000 people a year in bid to tackle illegal immigration

Absolutely. I live in a really safe Tory seat in the UK but have just challenged him on this:

Noem lies shamelessly: "An individual approached order Patrol officers with a 9mm semi-automatic gun. The officers attempted to disarm this individual, but the armed suspect reacted violently. This looks like a situation where an individual arrived to inflict maximum damage and kill law enforcement"

I’m a Brit watching from afar, but I know there are too many good people in the US and all around the world to let this stand. There will be a reckoning for this, keep the faith.

I heard you interview him at Glasto, John - and I like him, he seems to have been a pretty good Manc mayor. But I do remember how lacklustre his leadership campaign was against Corbyn and co - so all this King Across the Water stuff is a bit overblown IMO. But I agree he should stand.

I would really welcome a @bylinetimes.bsky.social podcast where this analysis is discussed further. I can no longer sign up to the β€˜it could never happen’ school of politics, so would dearly love to understand more about this grim prospect.

For a draft-dodger like Trump to utter these words makes it all the more disgusting.

I would guess they have the same mixture of predictable client media plus some bold independent players like we do? I started subscribing to The Atlantic, that’s a good US read.

It amazes me that it was his father Michael Young who drafted the Labour Party’s 1945 manifesto. What went wrong?!

Keen to hear your experiences, Lewis. I’m also curious about those US citizens asking you to stay away. If ICE are as out-of-control as they seem to be, why not shine the light of the entire global media on what’s happening?

This makes me very sad. But so did my own government gifting Trump an entirely undeserved second state visit to the UK. What is this collective arse-kissing achieving?

I’d love to think that this will be the very last time that Mandelson disgraces himself publicly. But I also thought that the last time, and the time before that, etc etc.

When it was UK child grooming gangs, Musk had an awful lot to say. Now it’s his own platform under pressure….not so much. Would dearly love to see some action taken here.
