Historian, watching history repeat itself. 'Never Again' must hold true. #resist they/them
@bryandechartgames.bsky.social Dechart Games gave us the prompt to create something related to any of the headcanons discussed on today's stream. I chose to write a villanelle about Connor's coin!
A villanelle is a format with specific repeated lines, it's one of my fave kinds of poems!
We've reached the point in our descent into fascism where the Jewish governor's house getting firebombed on Passover by a guy trying to bash his head in with a sledgehammer is overshadowed by the story of the President saying he wants to build foreign gulags for US citizens.

Glasses are just so normalized that most people donโt see it as such. Imagine if most mobility aids were that way. Imagine how much more respect disabled people would get. Itโs completely possible.

but it's also because they don't want to pay writers to write new stuff...
and because they're refreshing the copyright date on a lot of projects that are coming close to public domain.
Quite aside from the terrible costumes that look like Spirit Halloween rejects, offensive CGI, and the public's general apathy with remakes instead of new stories?
Zegler's clear disdain for the source material, and for the legacy of the character she plays, is a huge part of why this flopped. 9/9

Snow is *stunningly beautiful*. She's famous for being the most attractive person alive, but she never acts like or even thinks she's better than anyone else.
She is unfailingly kind, and treats everyone she meets as if they are the most important person in the room- from queen to doormouse. 7/
Some of us CAN'T rescue ourselves. It is NOT a failure if we need help to get out of a bad situation.
There is a strength in allowing yourself to be vulnerable, to trust, and to allow help from others.
There is a strength in remaining kind and humble despite being raised by evil and cruelty. 6/
who wants her around, who delights her and is delighted by her in turn.
So much power over her life has been taken from her, and it also makes perfect sense that she wishes for someone to rescue her and take her away from the people who hurt and abuse her.
5/
Not everyone wants that, but so many of us do, and there's nothing wrong with that desire.
Snow grew up alone, with very little human contact, and those she did see were often cruel to her. It makes perfect sense that what she wants more than anything is to share her life with someone- 4/
And that's not even touching on Zegler's disdain for "true love" as a goal.
There is NOTHING wrong with wanting to love and be loved, wishing that you find someone who makes your heart sing, feel all warm and fuzzy, that you can't wait to talk to, and who you want to just grow old with. 3/
It's "the one that started it all", both for animation in general and for Disney in particular as an animated film powerhouse.
It did things never done before in animation (google the 7-plane camera) and absolutely created history.
That film is the reason Disney is what it is today-

Been seeing some Zegler #SnowWhite2025 interviews... and I have some thoughts.
The fact that she repeatedly calls it a "cartoon" and is clearly doing that to be derogatory is making me so angry. It's an animated film. It's THE FIRST animated film ever, in the history of film.

We can't control President Trump, but we can help people weather the storm.
The degree to which we reflexively respond to a trigger is often highly dependent upon context.
For many survivors, it's not "(X) is always trigger for me;" but rather "(X) plus (Y) in setting (Z) triggers (reaction Q)."
I'm an American but fully support moving the 28 Olympics. This would damage his vanity immensely.

It's a feature.
Destroying SSA is the goal, the point, the intended outcome.
SSA has $2.8 TRILLION just sitting there, and waiting to go back to the people who deposited it.
If the entire code is "buggy", it's easier to steal that money, and hide the theft.
Dept of Homeland Security needs to be abolished too. That was also a response to 9/11, created Nov 2022.
We Jewish folks got that little lurch in our stomachs seeing the announcement, because historically departments with "Homeland" in the title and guns in their hands tend to be universally awful.
Abolish ICE is not an absurdity statement. ICE was created in 2003 as a response to 9/11 - we do not need it. We already established that following orders isn't an excuse.
