Ireland No. 1 in Europe - yet again. GHGs rose faster (+3.2%) in Ireland in Q3 2025 than ANYWHERE else in Europe.

#Climate action, my eye.

Always a bit suspicious when 'the most pressing public heath issue' crosses over with 'removing the autonomy of young people'. 'Ban screens for youths' is such catnip because it sound big and weighty but doesn't actually cost anything. Develop spaces and activities for youth does, though

Is the Mayoral role making Cllr impotence (a fact across Irish LAs) more keenly felt? Is the (putative) rearrangement of powers in Limerick causing more disfunction? Things definitely seem to be getting worse.

This recap made me feel a bit sorry for the Councillors. It just seemed like a long repetition of Cllrs asking for things and the Council saying no. Often the questions were only worth saying no to. It was as if they were just flailing around hoping something would happen if they complained enough.

An appalling proposal is hidden at the end of the Government’s Bill on the airport cap; it would exclude decisions under the legislation from the current obligation on almost all public bodies to consider their climate impact and to be consistent with climate objectives.

I feel like pointing out again (this has come up numerous times during these meetings) that the city centre itself has no community centre where we can foment a revolution.

But all the best to Raheen/Dooradoyle, where the houses have gardens.

I love seeing men on Valentine errands (way more than I enjoy being the subject of them). I saw a fella today with TWO Pandora bags. Brilliant.

OK #SpeirGorm this is a big one. The public consultation for "Grow College Green" is open from now until March 11. Have your say! This will radically reshape the heart of Dublin City and this is our once-in-a-generation chance to make it great for everyone!

There is nothing new about retrofit in here. It's an ad for this nice but pretty ordinary 3-bed semi-d that is somehow on the market, pimped by the Irish Times, for 1.475 million euros

Nonetheless I do believe that moving from our view of active travel delivery as a mere instrumental engineering task to seeing it as a vital socio-cultural intervention into the liveability of our local environments may help us to pursue a broader vision too…

4 stories in the @irishtimes.com highlight the crazy approach to climate action by the government. 3 articles detailing the heavy financial & social cost of climate breakdown, and 1 where the govt celebrates increasing climate emissions for the airport by lifting the passenger cap. 🀯 #SpeirGorm

I was knocked off my bike in broad daylight by a driver who I suspect was texting. The GardaΓ wouldn’t attend the scene (because I wasn’t hurt enough) and didn’t respond to my Traffic Watch report. The issue isn’t hi-vis jackets.
