Episode Five of Harmonically Speaking features composer Frank Corcoran.
I am deeply appreciative to him for speaking about his journey, creative process, and experience of 1970s Ireland, where he felt there was no cultural space or appreciation for him or Art Music.

Looking forward to performing some sublime chamber music this Friday as part of the Music in Calary Church piano festival.
Alongside Mozart Kegelstatt and Schumann Märchenerzählungen, we’re playing Bruch and the trio by Julius Röntgen - a rare chance to hear this oft overlooked work!

Thoroughly enjoyed returning to Feuerwerk Einbeck piano academy in Germany last weekend and talking to the students about performance psychology.
We discussed stress, adrenaline, and their effects on us and also how to consistently deliver optimum performances regardless of circumstances.

As part of @snagaeilge.bsky.social , I made some short diary pieces about the @rteco.rte.ie work. Today it’s all about our home in Studio 1 in @rte.ie radio centre, where we rehearse, broadcast, and recently recorded a new concerto written for my old teacher John Finucane!

It was such a pleasure performing Mozart with Dublin Orchestral Players last week!
What a wonderful group to play with, and I couldn’t resist posting a short clip from the rehearsal - possibly the most introspective passage in the piece, the recapitulation in the melancholy second movement.
