Re-reading the books looking for ways to “fix” #ROOT #TTRPG - I noticed if I use The Marquees, The Lizard Cult and The Corvid Conspiracy - I sort of (in essence) get The Hammerites, The Pagans and The Keepers from the #Thief computer games series.

Count me intrigued.

Lately I’ve heard from a couple of different people saying #Root #TTRPG is broken. I did not play it yet but I did read the book and re-read it today.
I think the main thing broken is that it is a PbtA without any concrete plot building mechanic nor a solid genre to draw from.
Any thoughts?

After finally running #TrophyRPG Gold for the first time I can say the experience is reversed. Unlike Dark, in Gold progress is solely in the hands of the players. And it felt weird.
It was also apparent that it was designed for a campaign as the emergent story felt flat in a one-shot.

Not fair to have two ttrpg crowd sourcing campaigns I am interested in starting on the same month.. (this time The Between and Monster of the Week)

Backing Brindlewood Bay #ttrpg on digital tier only is one of my latest regrets. I thought I will never run it physically but that is about to change.
I hope the upcoming The Between campaign will allow to add BB hardcovers as an add on..

I found out the hard way Heart: The City Beneath is not meant to be ran with PbtA habits. Although the first session was fun, we turned out playing a three ours long delve 🫣
Now where did I leave my OSR GMing again?

We are planning it as a quartet (sessions 0-3) for a short story arch.
I wouldn’t run it as a one-off because I love how the character creation process builds the story and buy-in of the entire group. And there is a bit much to go through.
Are you planning on using the pre-gens?

Had our first Heart session 0 last night. My group had been talking about the game for a while now and we are finally getting to play it 🤞
Character creation was long but great fun

Session 0 was a treat. A bit long but the result made it worth it.

I just love it when a system gives you all sorts of random pieces that coalesce around the character into an established story.

One of the elements that makes running #TrophyRPG Dark a unique experience is that unlike most games, progress between scenes (rings in Dark) is not about the characters doing stuff, but rather the GM introducing stuff.
The GM’s responsibility to move the story forward is so delightfully explicit.

I always thought it would be semi-pbta. I can smell the “Daytime Move” mechanic.

Haven’t played for a while. Gonna try preparing and running Heart: the city beneath.

Doesn’t seem like it would fit Alchemy yet. And I can’t stand Roll20. Gonna try setting it up on Miro and see where it goes 🤞

Today’s session reminded me what makes Misspent Youth such a unique #TTRPG to play and to run.
It is not about the agency the players get as much as the responsibility.
When things get boring it’s the players, not the GM, who is expected to make the Hard Move to push the story forward.

I just love how what was a little nugget of creepy character ending in Spire became a full blown Class on its own accord on Heart

Started reading into the DIE RPG book and my first thought is what a bold tactic to present a very basic trad core mechanic and then a list of “interpretations” and flavors from different engine-driven systems for each group to choose from and personalize their game experience.
