We've opened a few roads in Oxford to taxis replacing our bollards with ANPR (not blue light only). I wouldn't recommend.

It also speaks to the role of councillors who are unpaid volunteers. In 2003 the basic allowance was introduced, a few hundred pounds a month for a job that takes over your life.

Local government needs reforming.
