Career update …

Sitting and listening to Portishead makes me want to sit in dimly lit inner-Melbourne bars in 2001. (Honourable mention to mid-90s Dunedin what is where I first heard them.)

I’ve just realised how young Geoff Barrow was when Portishead released Dummy … and that I was younger.

It’s so funny, there’s a long social media tradition going back 25 years of making a big deal about how you were going to quit, and then only being gone for like half a day.

Boxing Day test cricket on the radio. Peter Lalor waxing lyrical about some classic Fitzroy pubs: the Newry, the Union, the Labour in Vain. (Not the Standard, WTF?) Brings back good memories of the good times with good friends that made Melbourne feel like home.

This includes a side rant about how I can’t (won’t) upgrade it after 14 years because you can’t get a manual, let alone one with a dual range gear box, in this benighted automatic loving country.
