Watching it as a teenager I wasn't deep enough to pick up on all that, but I was smart enough to think "But if you solve her murder, why would Agent Cooper need to stick around?" And sure enough, they had to keep coming up with half-assed reasons for him to stay.

it's always been funny to me that as someone who listens to music nearly every waking moment, I could barely quote any lyrics back to you, unless I heard them during that stretch of formative teenage years where things stick with you unusually well.

The Million Eyes of Sumuru (1967) Sumuru is a beautiful but evil woman who plans world domination by having her sexy all-female army eliminate male leaders and replace them with her female agents.

I don't think this film gets enough notice for how terrible it is. I've seen it riffed on MST3K and RiffTrax, but seeing it in its natural state really drives home the awfulness. Maybe the worst campy Bond knockoff.

Was this that brief stretch when some locations had a special evening dinner menu? I have a fuzzy memory of going to one near my college around 93-94, and getting table service and all these options when I just wanted a burger and fries.

Candyman: Day of the Dead (1999) As the Day of the Dead celebration approaches the barrio of East Los Angeles, Caroline is challenged to control the horrifying legend of her ancestor, the "Candyman".

Liked the first two, but I've got a bad feeling about this one.

Given the amount of times escalators have played a role in his political career, it's gonna be a little on the nose if he meets his fate in a bizarre accident involving one.

Abar, the First Black Superman (1977) Upon moving into a bigoted neighborhood, the scientist father of a persecuted black family gives a superpower elixir to a tough bodyguard, who thus becomes a superpowered crimefighter.

Rarely have I seen a film so earnest, trying so hard to tackle important things, and yet be so ineptly made and completely bonkers.

I was lucky enough to see Bowie tour for that album, along with NIN. I wish I'd seen his later Reality tour, because as excited as I was to see this one, I don't think I fully appreciated what a big deal it would be for me as my appreciation toward him grew in later years

Candyman (1992) The Candyman, a murderous soul with a hook for a hand, is accidentally summoned to reality by a skeptic grad student researching the monster's myth.

Turns out this film is not about Sammy Davis Jr's struggle to record his beloved 1972 hit. If you were planning on watching it for that, you are warned.

I know it's probably music licenses that hold these things back, but it seems nuts that something that old, with increasingly limited mass audience interest, can't just be thrown up somewhere for free.

I miss the days when TV shows had to come up with 20+ episodes a season, or comic books had to produce 12 issues a year, or a musician had to write another song to put something on the b-side. Sometimes constraints can result in fun stuff.

Comics were more enjoyable when stories were one issue long, with occasional two- or three-parters. Gimme a year of nine or ten different stories and villains, not a year of one drawn out story that will inevitably feature the one villain big enough to justify it.

Here to report that 30 years on this is still good.

Shame the director fell into a truck filled with rabid ferrets and never ever did anything again.

They originally planned to do it in color, and I sometimes wonder how things might have been different if Universal Horror had made the leap to A-list color productions. It's still substantially longer than most of the films, and feels like an attempt to do more.

A few years back, there were some Louisiana politicians (both Republican and Democrat) who would propose turning abandoned malls into prisons. Given their usual locations, that seemed like a terrible idea.
