Can't believe that in the space of a season I've gone from not caring about F1 to "I can't believe Verstappen needs to rely on a Ferrari driver to have a chance at the championship".

It's burned into my brain because we had to rewind to see "where did they get "Manchester"?"
Henceforth known was "suprise Manchester".
I've considered starting a spreadsheet to track it, just to see which _are_ correct. I can probably go back through my recent watchlist and sent a DM?
That being said: we thought we'd finally see what Yuri on Ice was all about (I know, I know) and the intro has different captions every time.
Email from British library Planned strike action to affect services next week We have been notified of planned strike action in St Pancras from Monday 8 to Friday 12 December. During this period, we expect significant disruption to our Reading Room services and may need to close all our Reading Rooms. We will let you know more as soon as we can and you can also stay up to date with this page on our website.
Good. Keep it up @pcsunion.bsky.social!

Considering finding out who translated it so I can email their employers my thanks.
23.11.2025 12:02 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I'm not surprised, as it's the culmination of the undervaluing (and disrespect, even) of translation as a skill. The amount of shitty translations I've seen recently is starting to really anger me and it puts me off using services.

I've waited months for email replies, and calling the numbers I've been given just gets hold music, answerphones and occassionally weird calls where they cut out or it's just white noise.

Ultimately, the promotion/hiring/prestige system needs to change in tandem (or at least eventually) for the entire thing to become sustainable.
Personally, I heavily agree. I think the difficulty is both in balancing the need for funding and that for some these metrics are directly tied to employment/promotion. I have had to ask myself if I have the backbone to say no in the face of someone's employability and the answer was no, admittedly.
17.11.2025 09:42 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Absolutely. I've been considering writing about it as we're doing nothing but (re)shackling ourselves with different chains as long as we don't reject these metrics. As long as we rely on infrastructure (in the broadest sense) that only exists to exploit labour and extract value, we're borked.
