Yes. Riding bikes (incl. e-bikes) is a safe activity made dangerous by cars. Walking too!

Helsinki Goes a Full Year Without a Traffic Death Thanks to Better Planned Streets, Lower Speed Limits Over time, a focus on street safety led to lower speed limits along more and more city lanes, from 30 mph to 18 mph.

This success is credited to lower speed limits, improved public transport, and thoughtful street planning. Decades ago, the city saw dozens of fatalities each year. Now, safer roads and better infrastructure have made a real difference.

Maybe the city should give the vendors parking spaces so we can have the sidewalks? A disabled person, the elderly are basically denied sidewalks in and around Canal Street. It’s a joke. @nyc.streetsblog.org @streetspac.org

All Hail the Humble Speed Hump These simple, cheap traffic-calming devices are both effective and wildly popular with (most) residents. Here’s why more cities are going all-in on speed humps.

In every known universe drivers care more about cars than pedestrians. YES!

There needs to be a clear "desire line" bike path from the bridge and into Manhattan. To dream big, the path should flow directly onto Canal and connect to the West Side Greenway. It's time to re-imagine and re-design Canal Street. @transalt.org @streetspac.org

Also, the bike exit is poorly designed and dangerous. With a gradient of 3.5% bikes accelerate towards exit into a a sweeping left turn with a short stop at the bottom, then a left (across a street), then a right to find the bike lane. The " design"of someone who has never ridden a bike.
