I think its greatness is pretty widely accepted at this point, but it took *decades.* Hell, I only finally watched it within the last 10 years or so!

I love that they don’t explain how they swiped part of Stonehenge. “You wouldn’t believe how we did it!” Dan O’Herlihy sells the line so well that you don’t even care that they gloss over the plot beat.

He brings it in EVERY SINGLE Halloween. I just love his performances throughout the series. I watched Curse of Michael Myers again the other night and there are so many great nuances to his performance, right up until the end.

That video was actually like… kinda scary if you were a kid at the time.

I fully believe that Tom Atkins had the time of his life making this movie.

A SteelBook for Halloween 3: Season of the Witch

Back from trick or treating, which means it’s time for beers and scary movies. First up:

Halloween seemed like an appropriate day to wrap RetroRealms: Ash vs. Evil Dead. I bought this for Micheal Myers, but I had fun with both the games in this package. Definitely wouldn’t mind seeing more horror franchises represented in the future. Chucky seems like a good fit, or Friday the 13th.

Absolutely agree. For my money, it’s the strongest slasher franchise by a mile in that regard.

This is a damn solid ranking that’s not far from my own.

Iirc this came from the (very excellent) Console Wars book. Essentially, people were taking back old NES units in droves to stores like Walmart and getting full reimbursement and Nintendo was taking the hit each time. It’s been years since I read it, though.

So, A) you’re right obviously but B) it is worth noting that the return policies for stores were extremely lax in the ‘90s. Nintendo was (apparently) directly involved with changing this policy, as stores were accepting years old NES system returns after the SNES launched.

It’s crazy that there have been 11 movies featuring Michael Myers since the original, and not a single one has managed to create a mask that looks as good as it does in this movie.

The trick or treating schedule in Haddonfield is absurd. They got kids out at all hours!

The scene of Loomis and the nurse in the car on the way to pick up Michael is ridiculously good. The rain, the dialog, the atmosphere… just a perfect introduction to Loomis right before it all goes down.

Out of all the characters that have come back in future Halloween installments, has the guy who slept with Judith Myers ever popped up anywhere else? That dude bounced right after the sex, had no intentions on calling her, and narrowly avoided being murdered. Maybe he moved right out of Haddonfield.

On my annual Halloween (1978) rewatch. It’s funny watching this a few days after Halloween 6, because it’s striking just how little the Myers residence looks like it does in that movie. I know the movies were like 15 years apart, but they did a really poor job capturing it!

Okay this one is very funny for some reason.

There are so many great ones throughout those games. Island Swing is iconic, but then you’ve also got Stickerbrush Symphony, Forest Interlude, Hot-Head Bop… so many greats.

David Wise. Aquatic Ambiance is my favorite piece of video game music ever recorded. Blew me away as a kid and still gets me after all these years.

Does that one still air? It’s been burned into my brain for 30+ years.
