A movie that takes place where you're from

I was a prolific commenter on a website and gave extremely correct Firefly opinions to the guy who ran that website

I'm so curious about the context here lol

I'm struggling to fathom the depths of uninformed and wrong you have to be to think that, of all people, MTG is one of the most honest ones

you do not, under any circumstances, have to hand it to him

...but that 𝘸𝘒𝘴 pretty damn funny

this mfer would do a The Purge for Kids if someone sarcastically recommended it. absolute brain rot

This isn't even just kids

I'm sorry, but the price of entry for normal relationships is sometimes people just have big emotions, and you sit with them, and support them

don't treat a deviation from the baseline emotional neutrality like it's a problem to permanently solve

If ADHD meds help with ADHD symptoms, and all that's left are "emotional ups and downs at times", then I am going to have to prescribe the most difficult, experimental treatment I can:

talk to your fuckin kids???

If CondΓ© Nast Can Illegally Fire Me, No Union Worker Is Safe The Trump administration is making employers think they can ignore their legal obligations and trample on the rights of workers.

"By firing me and my fellow organizers, my former employer, ostensibly a beacon of the 'liberal media,' seems all too happy to align themselves with the Republican Party’s gutting of workers’ rights"

This is an awesome piece from @goodbyealma.bsky.social, one of @condeunion.bsky.social's Fired four

Truly, genuinely, I believe if anyone could run something like that well, you could. And that sounds like a hell of a good model.

20.11.2025 23:34 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

But beyond that, we have this ingrained belief that the "owner" of a company is the only one(s) who should get to decide what direction a company takes

And, simply put, fuck that shit. If 1,000 people build a company, why does one person deserve the sole right to tank it if they feel like it?

20.11.2025 23:33 β€” πŸ‘ 10    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 1

It is not actually an inherent, natural state of the universe that people who own companies care solely about profit, for starters. Plenty of non-publicly traded companies exist that do well without succumbing to Wall Street brain rot. This has way more to do with stock trading than just business

20.11.2025 23:31 β€” πŸ‘ 10    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

I have a crazy, radical idea for that, too:

Fuck 'em

I know so many incredibly talented people who are good at one thing but bad at the money part

Hell, that's me. I'm great at writing, decent at making videos, and terrible at finding sponsors/revenue streams

But somewhere along the way, we decided that money people should be in charge of everything

20.11.2025 01:18 β€” πŸ‘ 33    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I don't know how we ingrained the idea that businesses exist to make money so deeply in our culture that it's written into laws, but it's simply not true

Plenty of businesses and organizations exist to serve a need, or even fulfill a passion

Money is just one of many logistical hurdles they face

20.11.2025 01:16 β€” πŸ‘ 53    πŸ” 3    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

the most radical belief I have that I actually think should be normal is this:

The people whose job it is to figure out how to make a business make money should not be the ones in charge of a company. They should be, at best, a subservient department within a company, on par tech support or HR

I have absolutely zero respect for executives who want to rush to automate away artists' jobs while still profiting from art

but I have negative respect for people who are meekly waiting for a court to tell them they have permission to steal

17.11.2025 16:50 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

there IS a middle ground, and it's the one where machine learning has been in use 𝘒𝘴 𝘒 𝘡𝘰𝘰𝘭 𝘡𝘰 𝘒𝘴𝘴π˜ͺ𝘴𝘡 𝘒𝘳𝘡π˜ͺ𝘴𝘡𝘴 for years and years

but you're not looking for a "middle ground" for an artistic tool, you're waiting for courts to tell you how much plagiarism is legal

which is the coward's route btw

17.11.2025 16:48 β€” πŸ‘ 14    πŸ” 2    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I grew up in the shadow of Stone Mountain, where they celebrated Robert E. Lee *heroically* choosing to end the Civil War. This shit has always existed. But it doesn't mean it's not worth fighting the tangible problems our election systems face

We don't need to change them to beat them

17.11.2025 01:09 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I never said there aren't unsalvageable people

I said they're not always the default majority in red states

And, much, much more importantly, that we need help with the suppressive voting systems, more than we need sanctimonious lectures about how bad people exist

*err the moment roe v. wade was overturned, first post should say. obvs.

which is why it's doubly stupid when Dems whinge about how "the left loses on identity politics" as though 90% of the country even encounters trans people or trans-adjacent issues in their daily lives at all

the only way it costs the left is when you fall into the trap of trying to appease them

16.11.2025 22:08 β€” πŸ‘ 6    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

it was also very obvious that it accelerated literally the minute that roe v. wade passed

"won't someone think of the children?!" is a flashpoint for conservatives. once abortion wasn't the wedge issue they could wield, they turned to vilifying trans people

it is a brazen and obvious tactic
