Yes, I log everything. Not just movies. Can't help it. Pretty cool last 4, though. I enjoyed all of this. #lastfourwatched #letterboxd #filmsky

Short Films in Focus: The Vacation | Short Films in Focus | Roger Ebert The kind of short film that accomplishes a lot without ever looking like it’s trying too hard.

I wrote about a short film called THE VACATION for @ebertvoices.bsky.social this month. The film played at the 2023 The Chicago Critics Film Festival. It's a wonderful little comedy about a vacation that was never meant to be. Watch it, then read about it. Enjoy!

To all the drive-in theater owners in all those red-state rural areas who decided to program a SUPERMAN and SINNERS double feature... How was the crowd this weekend?

Watch 66 Oscar-Nominated-and-Award-Winning Animated Shorts Online, Courtesy of the National Film Board of Canada I recently heard someone quip that proposals to cut the Academy Awards are tantamount to suggesting that the NFL trim down the Super Bowl. Certainly for many who would rather watch the former any day ...

My pals at @vidiots.bsky.social created an interactive experience during the film breaking fakeout scene in their screening of Gremlins 2: The New Batch last weekend. It's even better than what I had hoped to do in 1990! 😁

Only three episodes in, but this new season of Always Sunny is already kinda stunning, starting with their Abbott Elementary crossover, the "sweet" conclusion to episode two and their takedown of The Bear in the latest episode that must've felt cathartic to them. 17 seasons? Still one of the best.

I do remember "Stoned" being on HBO later on, but I don't remember the other two. Also, in "Zapped," Baio's character's name was Barney Springboro.

I revisited β€œPicnic At Hanging Rock” today, which made me think of other Peter Weir movies, which made me think of β€œDead Poets Society,” which made me think, β€œyeah, they sent the wrong prep-school kids to Hanging Rock.”

I submitted a proposal for the Until The End Of The World Soundtrack, which might be too obscure of a movie, even if the artists on the soundtrack are anything but. If they could only pick one soundtrack, this is a good one to lose to. Congrats, Leor!!!

I really hope you find a light that takes you out of this darkness. The world needs your words and your voice. The people you write about have great appreciation and admiration for you and your writing does cause a ripple effect of positivity. It's not always seen or felt on our end, but it's there.

Kenneth Branagh's 4-hour HAMLET is streaming on Tubi and I'm trying to imagine watching that while being interrupted every ten or fifteen minutes with Walden University and Zebra Insurance ads. "Get thee to a--Domino's Pizza!"

I had the pleasure of participating as a talking head in a youtube doc about "Rocky Horror." It's basically a video essay, a very insightful, well-made one that's worth a watch. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEsn...

#letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched Been catching up with Warmer Archive blu-rays this week. Mixed results, but I loved hearing Oliver Stone on a commentary track talking about how he loves Capraesque endings and feel-good movies, while constantly name-dropping every film he ever made.

That feeling of doing a nearly 2-hour podcast on a film, then writing 2,000+ words on that same film and feeling like you never once came close to nailing it.

Christmas Movies Actually: Brazil - 40th Anniversary (feat. Jeff Broitman) Kerry and Collin are joined by Jeff Broitman (formerly of the podcast Fresh Perspective) to talk about one of Collin's all-time favorite films, Terry Gilliam's 1985 masterpiece "Brazil."

New episode! One of Collin's all-time favorite films finally gets the CMA treatment thanks to @criterion.bsky.social's 4K release. A Christmas movie, sure, but also so much more. A dense movie deserves a lengthy discussion. We're all in this together. Enjoy! www.nowplayingnetwork.net/christmasmov...

Last 4 Friday. "Bridget Jones" for podcast prep. Hosted a screening of "Time Bandits" at Elk Grove Theater. And a movie I should've given 5 stars, but really not crazy about some of the choices made with this otherwise amazing show. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched
