Genuine question to publishers and book folk: how closely related is back matter to black ⚫️ or dark matter?
Indexes and references pull things together, right? Takes up a substantial amount of the book, inexplicably draws people toward it. Consumes authors who spend too long in it's presence...

These dark November months are not kind to energy levels and mounting deadlines, but even the smallest gestures provide help. Clinging to words of encouragement from my academic heroes like a lifebuoy.
Tea and saffron buns and sci fi/fantasy also help, of course.

Thoroughly recommend, whether online or in person. Thanks to the organisers for making this such a welcoming and inclusive event 😊

Thanks for persisting with the research @yvonnetsecrepaldi.bsky.social and I recognise the long fermentation period. Some papers just need a bit more time to get themselves where they need to be.
Thinking that @bogdanahuma.bsky.social might also be interested in reading this too 💬🫷🧑

Calling #EMCA researchers interested in eating
I mean, those who research eating practices, not just those of us who eat.
If you conduct video-based, interactional analysis (think CA, DP, EMCA, linguistic anthropology) on eating in social interaction, then EatSiN might be for you. Contact me for more details!
