I knew people who had also made the transition before me and got some small opportunities before eventually applying for some agencies.

For me, I worked with unofficial fan translators many years ago and learned the foundational skills back then with my hobbyist Photoshop skills. However, making the actual transition to professional work was more difficult since there wasn't something like this available at the time.

I've been kicking the can down the road for setting up some kind of portfolio webpage, but I'm honestly not sure if there's any point in it these days. I'm already working for the majority of the publishers I'd want to work with, and my work isn't really super fancy that I'd feel like showing off...

I absolutely had no patience doing that when I started out, and instead spent all my patience working with Adobe's jank ass API to make Letterer Buddy remotely workable in the first place

The same applies to me when reading manga and noticing things that I would do differently with the lettering.
