seems to me that (for everyone, not just straight women) there's a lot more freedom for us olds than there use to be, in terms of how you get to present yourself/dress/talk/behave than there used to be.

thinking about how the Golden Girls actresses were all around my age or not much older (younger?) and even today they just come across as OLD. but i'm not sure the peers i see when i look around me come across as OLD, not in the same crone-y way.

ps. what exactly is a crone, anyway? how old is "crone"? is it when your kid leaves for college? when you have a pre-menopause hysterectomy to clear up some illness or another? that "crone" archetype maybe ought to be updated a bit for modern folks.
