Over 7,000 people, and first team in the league to pass the 90,000 attendance mark.

Not bad for a team in its 3rd year and league in its 7th year.

Why is the meeting between the US and Russia, when Russia's war is with Ukraine

[I know the answer to this. I am reminding all of us of this very peculiar situation.]

Rare CEBL game on TSN5 right now.

Most games are only available on TSN+

Solid crowd out in Winnipeg.

I missed this one from my friend Rob:

How is this different from when a Communist government confiscates private property?

I think this is a pretty revealing indicator of how limited LLMs are as a model of intelligence.

Person I know works at a company that has their own internal LLM like ChatGPT. Apparently it sucks in comparison, because its training data set is limited for reasons of privacy and security.

This isn't to say that London wouldn't be a good base for a business, just that if cost were a main driving factor, the GTA wouldn't have over 10 times the population of the London area.

And for roughly the same kind of reasons, though at a different scale, that people would choose Toronto before London (Ontario) as a base for their business, even though the costs would be lower in London.

It's not the only driving factor, but it's a common justification, and it seems intuitively correct to a lot of people.

But I'm pretty sure that if we set our taxes to the same rates as the US, the US would _still_ be the leader in both business and innovation.

It's taken as a given that the US economy is as strong and innovative as it is because low taxes, but IDK, maybe it's the other way around.

Something I've been thinking about over the last few days:

How much is the drive for low taxes in Canada just cargo-culting the US?

Canada's attempt to fix its relationship with Mexico highlights why Doug Ford should not be the one speaking for Canada, as he is the one responsible for breaking it.

I have been through Windsor, which, eyeballing it, is a tad south of Long Point, but we didn't stop there, so I'm not counting it.

We get a lot of red-winged blackbirds, which I don't think of as typical backyard bird feeder customers. I associate them more with campgrounds. We live about 150m away from a marshy area, though, so I suppose it makes sense.

I've been hoping for blue jays too, but so far I don't think I've seen one anywhere in the area.

We've lived in this house for a little over 2 years. Shortly after we moved in, I saw a cardinal. We had bird seed, but no feeder, so I bought a feeder hoping it would come back.

We've had all sorts of birds coming to the yard since then, but no cardinals, until today.

'We did it with less' could be a motto for a lot of things we should be doing but people say we can't because it'll cost too much.

I've been thinking a lot about that in terms of post-secondary education. What were the economic conditions when we started funding that? Not nearly as good as now!

Yeah, that's right. I'm going to blame the omission on character limit.

I once returned some store specific glass bottles to an IGA. Rode my bike from one side of the Hamilton mountain to the other with a bunch of glass battles dangling from my handlebars in shopping bags.

Stores are 100% being whiners here. While visiting friends and family in Michigan 20 years ago, stores there already had it figured out there, not just for alcohol, but beverage containers in general, pop cans and such.

And of course, even our convenience stores used to handle glass pop bottles.

This will land about as well as the 'explainer' Star Warms movies/series like Solo, Book of Boba Fett, and so on.

The only thing that could save it is that I don't think Gollum ever had the mystique that some of those Star Wars characters had, so expectations will be lower.
