Is our Government Complicit in Genocide? The Genocide Convention imposes obligations on states and individuals not just to punish the crime of genocide but to actively prevent it. Two years into the war in Gaza and over 20 months since th…

1. Many here seem bemused by the anger and disappointment this government attracts. Please bear with me while I try to explain it.
Let’s begin with Gaza. Starmer’s complicity is one of the major reasons so many people are disillusioned.

Phillipson says yes, the govts made mistakes, but its also delivered, & she cites scrapping the 2 child benefit cap

You could have done this in July 2024. Instead you've needlessly kept hundreds of thousands of kids in poverty for almost 2 years & it had to be forced out of you

Post-Brexit sales of British farm products to EU fall by 37% NFU warn it could take years to restore Brexit losses despite efforts to smooth negotiations on farming and other elements of UK-EU reset

Post-Brexit sales of British farm products to EU fall by 37%.

Brexit has brought no benefits and left the UK exposed in the era of tariffs and trade wars.

Farage and Tories lied about Brexit.

Govt can get economic growth by rejoining the EU. Our future is in Europe, not in being the 51st state.

Maybe they thought GB News wasn’t a news channel, because that’s what they say every time they are reported to Ofcom for blatant bias and propaganda?

Reform want to do USA style DOGE cuts to councils that are already on the brink due to Tory austerity. At some point leaching more money from the country to give to the rich will lead to collapse.

If you want to know what Reform will be like in government, look at the councils we control. At Worcestershire County Council, for example, we want to increase council tax by 10% and are begging the government for a Β£71m bail out, otherwise we face effective bankruptcy.

National Insurance is a regressive tax that hits the less well-off hardest Compared to income tax, national insurance contributions attract little sustained scrutiny even though they provide large amounts to the public purse.

Regressive Taxation.

Wages taxed at marginal rates of 20% to 45% + National Insurance.

Capital gains taxed at 18% to 32%: dividends taxed at 8.75% to 39.35%; No NIC levied.

Successive govts appease the rich. Difference in rates/NIC fuels tax abuse industry, public purse robbed of billions.

The situation fundamentally changed in 1979. Everyone knows this but some people just like to argue. Good luck.

In her defence of Starmer Bridget Phillipson mentions scrapping the 2 child benefit cap.

That is happening in spite of Starmer, her & the rest, not because of them. Imagine what else could be achieved if the whole rotten lot of 'em were cast aside.

Whatever Happened to Matt Goodwin? From 'fully-paid up member of the liberal left' to Thatcherite national populist, David Edgar and Jon Bloomfield trace the trajectory of Reform UK's candidate for the Gorton and Denton by-election

Matt Goodwin just sounds like a bog standard far right conservative, using immigrants to play divide & rule in order to dump on the working class, pretending that he's against the elite when he is the elite. The usual games.

There's a firing squad on Bluesky, aiming at anyone stating the blinking obvious: that Starmer needs to go ASAP if Labour is to have any chance of recovery before 2029.

Starmer isn't a liberal socialst, he's a right wing Tory. Why are you calling a Tory a socialist?

I was never fooled by Starmer and didn't vote for him. The "left" that I see are usually politically clued up and don't fall for shallow political games.

Excellent work by Reform at Kent Council, who made a Β£40m saving by briefly proposing to spend Β£40m on something then deciding not to. Using this model, every Reform council can save Β£billions!
