The Budget must tax extreme wealth and use this to tackle the cost-of-living crisis.

Thousands have already backed my open letter to the Prime Minister to do this.

Reformโ€™s former leader in Wales Nathan Gill has been jailed for 10 years after accepting pro-Russia bribes of tens of thousands of pounds.

Reform spokespeople previously suggested their leaders didn't really know Gill.

Despite all these pictures of him with Nigel Farage.

I see right-wing journalists are attacking me again over a wealth tax.

Here's a simple fact they never mention:

British billionaire wealth has more than DOUBLED since 2010

โ–ช๏ธ2010: ยฃ250 Billion
โ–ช๏ธ2025: ยฃ620 Billion

Yet workers' wages have been flat.

Tax extreme wealth, not workers!

In Parliament today I said the asylum announcement scrapes the bottom of the barrel and is a desperate attempt to copy Reform.

We should be taking the fight to Reform - not trying to outdo them.

Raising income taxes on working people wouldโ€™ve been totally wrong - so itโ€™s good if that's been dropped.

But there must be no other proposals that leave ordinary families paying higher taxes.

Here's 3 fairer alternatives:

A Wealth Tax of 2% on assets over ยฃ10m
โ†’ ยฃ24bn per year

Equalising capital gains & income tax
 โ†’ ยฃ12bn per year

Windfall Tax on banks

Today I joined the moving Remembrance Sunday service at Whitkirk Cenotaph.

I laid a wreath for all those from East Leeds who lost their lives in war. We remember them, the grief of their loved ones, and continue to seek a world of peace, free from the pain and horror of war.

Nigel Farage just voted to water down workers' rights.

We were voting on the Employment Rights Bill - the biggest strengthening of workersโ€™ rights in years.

But of course Farage sided with the bosses. Again.

Brilliant win for socialist Zohran Mamdani in New York!

His relentless focus on tackling the cost of living crisis and making the wealthy pay is exactly what people need.

A powerful voice against Trumpโ€™s hate and Israelโ€™s genocide.

A boost for the left everywhere!

Nigel Farageโ€™s supporters donโ€™t like it when you point out that heโ€™s talking about cutting the minimum wage for young workers.

Or that heโ€™s pocketed over ยฃ1 MILLION from outside "workโ€ since the election.

Because it exposes the truth about this self-styled โ€œman of the peopleโ€.

Nigel Farage is now talking about cutting the minimum wage for young people.

Once again, instead of going after the super-rich, he attacks ordinary workers.

So much for being a man of the people.

Nigel Farage just tried to bring a Bill to pull Britain out of the European Convention on Human Rights.

I voted against it - and the whole thing was rejected.

We canโ€™t let Farage strip away the rights that help ordinary people stand up to the rich and powerful.

The historic loss of Caerphilly is the direct result of the disastrous direction taken by the Labour leadership.

To rebuild support, we need to start governing with real Labour values.

That means taxing the very wealthiest and taking urgent action on the cost-of-living crisis.

Most people would be horrified if their pension was invested in companies linked to Israeli war crimes.

Great to join fellow Labour MPs in support of Pensions Bill Amendment by Neil Duncan Jordan to divest LGPS pension funds from firms complicit in Israel's crimes against Palestinians.

A graphic of the motion that reads

That this House welcomes the proposal from leading tax experts for the introduction of an annual wealth tax of 2% on individual assets over ยฃ10 million, which could raise an estimated ยฃ24 billion each year; believes that such a measure would represent a fairer alternative to cuts and could provide urgently needed resources to tackle the poverty and inequality that blights our society; and calls on the Government to bring forward proposals for such a tax on extreme wealth ahead of the next Budget.

UK billionaire wealth has more than doubled since 2010:

Food prices are out of control.

From free school meals to a Windfall Tax on profiteering companies, we need an urgent debate on Government action to bring prices down and to support families.

Food price caps were seriously discussed a few years ago โ€“ and must be again now.

Today I spoke at the RMT demo against the threat of deportation of hundreds of rail workers - some in just a few weeks.

The Governmentโ€™s rushed visa changes reclassified which jobs count as โ€œskilled,โ€ with no consultation or vote.

Itโ€™s wrong, cruel, and must be dropped.

ID cards are a threat to civil liberties, to data security & risk peopleโ€™s private info being handed to US tech giants for profit.

Theyโ€™re also a total waste of time and money when the government should be focused on people's real priority: tackling the cost of living crisis.

In Parliament today.

Nigel Farage has raked in over ยฃ1 MILLION from outside โ€œworkโ€ since the General Election.

Thatโ€™s way more than any other MP - and twice as much as the next highest, the super-rich Rishi Sunak.

So much for being a man of the people.

As Iโ€™ve long said: ban ALL MPsโ€™ second jobs.

Richard Burgon speaking at the national march for Palestine on 11 October.

Today I spoke again at another huge national march for Palestine.

The ceasefire has given Gaza a chance to breathe. But we will not stop until there's real peace and justice.

Until those guilty of genocide face justice.

Until Israelโ€™s occupation ends.

Until Palestine is free.

This follows the wholly disproportionate and deeply troubling decision to designate Palestine Action - a group that posed no risk to the public - as terrorists.

I voted against that decision in Parliament and again call on the Government to immediately overturn it.

Instead of vital police resources being used to keep communities safe, we have the absurd situation where they're being wasted on arresting peaceful protesters: people simply holding signs and exercising their democratic rights to oppose genocide.

The two-child benefit cap is one of the cruellest Tory policies.

Thatโ€™s why I voted to scrap it - and lost the Labour whip for doing so.

Itโ€™s great to see a growing consensus to end it. Along with other MPs, Iโ€™ve written to the Prime Minister demanding he scraps it immediately.

At PMQs today, I told the Prime Minister that to stop a Reform Government we need a return to real Labour values.

That means real action to tackle poverty and inequality, a Wealth Tax on the super-rich, and an ethical foreign policy that takes a strong stand against war crimes.

The toxic rhetoric around migration in recent weeks has emboldened far-right thugs - who are now abusing and intimidating people in the street they see as โ€œforeignโ€, who are now vandalising their homes, businesses and places of worship with racist graffiti, and who are spreading division in our communities.

As I've said before, I believe the scapegoating of refugees and migrants for societyโ€™s problems is totally wrong. The real responsibility for the deep problems we face lies with the super-rich and those in power who have profited from our rigged economic system, who sold off our public services and attacked workersโ€™ rights. They - not refugees and migrants - have driven down wages, starved our NHS, and fuelled the housing crisis.

Thatโ€™s why Iโ€™m campaigning for a wealth tax on the super-rich, to build huge numbers of council houses, to bring water and energy back into public ownership and to kick the profiteers out of our NHS.

But whatever peopleโ€™s views, we should all agree on this: racist intimidation, violence, attacks on people and their property and other criminal activity are completely unacceptable.

Every politician has a duty to speak out, to condemn this far-right thuggery, and to do all they can to stop the stoking of the hatred that fuels this wave of far-right violence and intimidation.
