21.04.2025 16:00 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Why does this matter to anyone? Whether total factor productivity in ag production continues to climb should be the primary concern. Trade deficits/surpluses are irrelevant.
12.03.2025 17:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The US disagrees with the panel. They signed a deal, but the ~250 tariff is hard to ignore. It will be an ongoing irritant. It's disingenuous to claim that the US isn't exporting up to their tariff free limit, so why does it matter.
12.03.2025 13:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's a disputed issue. US claims Canada is unfairly restricting US dairy exports within the zero-rated negotiated agreement. They would export much more if border was open. www.reuters.com/markets/usmc...
12.03.2025 13:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0The promise from the Freeland to double salaries (and cut labour productivity in half) to meet the 2% demand more quickly was an interesting choice. Carney seems to understand the challenge of getting to 2%.

16.02.2025 15:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Today, those vacuous slogan-mongering politicians would dismiss them as globalist elites. In fact, they were elites, well connected through commerce and elite education. This is what is lost when politics is intentionally dumbed down to slogans.
16.02.2025 15:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs a remarkable exchange. Serious dialogue seemingly without being scripted. I voted for Turner as well thinking at the time it would be better to pursue multilateral free trade rather than a bilateral deal with the US. I still thinking the same.
16.02.2025 15:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I don't know if it will affect them currently. I think they have partnered in the past. I believe MCC US has resisted USAID funds because historically they were sourced from US grains being monetized in foreign markets to the detriment of local producers.
15.02.2025 13:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My understanding is that MCC does not accept USAID funding. They will be impacted indirectly with increased needs of some of there international partners who use USAID funds.

15.02.2025 01:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A few ideas:
- over next four years, negotiate free trade in food (including non tariff barriers) with rest of World, other than US.
- double down on food production research in preparation to satisfy new World markets as US influence regresses (RFK may move US Ag backwards)
A few ideas:
-in short term, levy counter tariffs strategically (goods with readily available alternatives) which harm Trump base.
- eliminate/harmonize all restrictions on interprovincial movement of provincially inspected meat, SM quota, transportation of food, professional designations...
