If they get a case that cleanly presents the question, and doesn’t toss up sovereign immunity and 1stA issues, I’m not going to be surprised if the Court takes it up.

Very important distinction. A lot of very well reasoned speculation as to why they didn’t take this case, e.g. Kim Davis was arguing MULTIPLE different and complex positions in this case that the Court would have had to work through to reach the merits of Obergefell.
