... limit invitations? I found a gremlin in the predatory model. If one commences an "editor" profile, but leaves it incomplete, you are in review purgatory: no papers assigned as Ed, and no invitations to review.

Some debt from UG, certainly... but benefited from fee waiver in PG.

Australian school fees are typical of developed countries, and are paid-down in a manner indexed with earnings.

Recent cost of living pressures is certainly reducing the buying power of stipends, which needs addressing

I've been using libre office on all my retired lab PC's (formatted with fresh ssd)... it has a small learning curve for certain things (e.g. equations) but has proven a viable option.

Play the long game. Plenty of data demonstrating higher job satisfaction, health, economic benefits etc that align with higher educational status... even for those outside the academy 😲
