You didn’t hear this from us, but the Old English word 'sibb' meant β€œrelated by blood.”

This is where we get the 'sibling.'

And 'godsibb' essentially meant β€œgodparent.”

Over time, it came to mean "close friend."

Now it is something we share w/ close friends...

'gossip.'

Thrilled to listen to my former colleague Kirsten Hillman, πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦'s Ambassador to the US, talk about Canada-US relations yesterday. A once-in-a-generation diplomatic talent of whom Canadians can be justifiably proud.

Hear me out: stop selling naming rights on everything. Go back to calling things by what they do or what they resemble

Skydome forever. Saddledome & Butterdome, too!

No more Rogers this and Scotiabank that, please. I've no idea what city you're in, they are so overused. Meaningless. Soulless

Same. Last year I declined to pay for a kitchen faucet that would respond to voice commands.

I mean, yes, good and important read.

But oh so devastating because after my recent re-studenting the truest line for me was:

"It felt like I was watching the beginning of the fall of university education in real time."

Long lines at the polls a result of provincial changes for local elections, not labour shortages - LiveWire Calgary If there was one universal for the 2025 Calgary general municipal election, it’s that long lines and a frustrating paperwork process led to discontent among voters. Social media posts over the past…

Long lines at the polls a result of additional complexity and paperwork requirements for electors and election workers, despite more staff and 73 more polling stations for 2025 versus 2021.

Oh my dear lord scroll for the comments.

The mezzanine level between hauptbahnhof and terminal at FRA is one of my very favourite liminal spaces. But this may be a bridge too far into another world.

2 Screenshots from the movie "Good Will Hunting" (1997): First, a young man with short blond hair sits in a room lined with bookshelves, wearing a dark jacket with light stripes on the sleeves. He has a thoughtful expression as he asks, "So when did you know, like, that she was the one for you?" Second, an older man with a beard and a warm expression responds, "October 21, 1975." He is wearing a green cardigan over a blue patterned shirt, and the background is filled with books and papers.

In addition to Lupin--which you should watch--have a read through the real-life history of the pieces of the French empire that have actually been stolen:

I posted this because I not-so-subtly made my parents watch Lupin just 2 weeks ago. And they really, really enjoyed it.

Agree. Yesterday my return to YYJ was lovely on the 72 up to McTavish and then it would have been a 30 minute+ wait for the 88.

I took a $12 uber to the terminal. I am not complaining about $15 total to the airport, but very few travelers have my flexibility and patience.

Huh. Just looked at my local SDM: bookings for COVID but the cost is $135 + $20 injection fee. I guess I am not surprised?

I booked in with AHS in November and we will see what they charge (bc I am still not sure if I am eligible for a free shot--and they won't tell me until the appt).
