I had my first 3 figure count of Balearics since I moved back to Cornwall this afternoon. Around 75-80% were very dark ‘sooty’ like ones. My new spot at PG is great for good close views of them

Mass feeding frenzy off PZ, 1000s of gulls and gannets along with Risso’s, common dolphin and humpback whale. Glauc and kumlien’s the best birds so far

Decent start to the year on patch despite the high winds and rain, sooty, Balearic, Manx shears and bonxie the seawatching highlights and a flyover glossy ibis and Slav grebe later in the day

Two spp of shearwater so far to start the year off. Hundreds of kittiwakes, auks and gannets moving too

It’s that time of year when we dream of encountering magical birds like bluetails & OBPs. Here’s a post to give some hope & to inspire people to keep searching. Dreams came true for Ryan & me. Lighting struck twice - on the same day!

First decent vismig session of the autumn on patch this morning with waders, pipits and larks dominating proceedings. The sunrise wasn’t too bad either
