I'm thinking about leaving Bsky. I am too used to see companies pretending to be ethical only to end up stealing from their users to feed AI behind their back.

Keep in mind that Itaku & Newgrounds actually respect artists' rights & are against art theft. You will see more posts of mine there.

I worry so much about this possibility that I rather warn other artists.

Bsky isn't a good alternative if you left Instagram / Meta due to AI training. We aren't safe from Bsky pulling that card to sell our hard work to AI companies or to create its own AI to profit from it..

In an ideal world, there would be arts funding. There'd be grants and universal income for everyone to help artists art harder.

That's not the real world. The arts are undervalued, they're trying to replace us with robots. We're struggling and a lot of people think that's just fine.

Understandable. Most people who look at art online aren't art critics after all. Plus, you're more likely to get an average score of 4.5 / 5 on Newgrounds if you draw something that everyone likes — even if it's just a doodle made in 10 minutes — than something niche in a non-mainstream art style.

lately, a lot of people ask me what style I'm drawing / what I call my style. Those people are looking for prompts to feed into generators.

A good friend was very helpful, linking me the perfect term to tell them. Tell them your style is called "gråtrunka". 👍

This is exactly why I roll my eyes everytime I see callout posts about someone being a so-called [random buzzword]. The 'proofs' are either out-of-context screenshots or 'testimonies' from a friend group ( 'surprisingly', always minors ) who had a beef with the person who is called out.

I already knew that Etsy was garbage when I saw the amount of Ebay scammers moving there & 2 entire pages of thieves selling framed AI-generated images yet claiming them as 'painted by themselves'. It will be even harder for actual artisans to sell their original creations now.

I swear, you cannot post art anywhere without becoming food for that blatant art thief, even on art sites. I really hope Bsky won't end up being being another AI crap months later. I'm tired of moving to new sites just to leave them later.
