Listen, if you’re in the UK and you can get to this, get to this. One of the few comics conventions that is STILL about comics, stunning location, just a great time.

Seriously! If there's a piece of mine you like and want to use commercially licencing is an option. There are some images I can't resell but many I can! And it's far cheaper than custom work.

I can't speak for other artists but I'm sure many feel the same!

2-panel comic drawn in pen with minimal inkwash shading; the panels are stacked vertically and equal in size.
Panel 1 starts with a caption that says "Drawing with my non-dominant hand the other day got me thinking about other fun (interesting?) ways to restrict the drawing process, like: drawing something I'm not super familiar with, w/o using a reference. An Ibex!"
Beneath that caption is a drawing of what mostly resembles a fawn but with tall, straight, spindly antlers and black spots on its back. Little notes in cursive surround the animal and say "spots? Mountain terrain? Rocks? (A deer, but, kind of cunty?)"
Panel 2 shows a drawing that actually referenced an Ibex, which basically just looks like a regular ram with long horns that arch back gracefully away from the head. The captions say "And then drawing it again *with* reference. Oh wow... I was way off. I was right about the rocks tho. No spots. (still pretty cunty)"
Beneath the comic is my signature (Kat Baumann), today's date (11-6-2025) and the time I spent drawing this (40 minutes)

Day 310: Drawing animals I've never seen in person like a 400CE monk

If there's an object or living thing you think I don't know much about, and you'd like to see me draw it very badly and then kind of okay, sound off in the comments baby

It’s still remarkable that Disney produced - and released - this segment in 1940. A horror short that should rank with its Universal monster movie contemporaries… The animation is lush and experimental, and really shows off the Disney special animated effects team…

The full quote: "I think the sublime confusion is from nineteen to twenty-nine. You think you are late for everything, you're a has been, nothing is happening, there's no opportunity for you, the world is closed, everything is a disaster, you wanna die. And then you're thirty. "
"You young people are in the exact age of desperation. I never felt more done and old than in my twenties. I'd say 'life has passed me and I did nothing.' But I'm here to tell you that's not true: you have a lot of fucking time."

Absolutely epic thread. He was a former head teacher of the secondary school I went to. Just an old picture on a wall with the other former heads. No post-nominals. No fuss made. I expect now all this is known the school would make a bigger deal of him. It's the kind of school that would.

The Ellisons Are Beta-Testing Big Brother. If your feeds, subs, streams, games, and sports don't ensure you are on your "best behavior," your school and its EdTech partners will.

"If you believe, as Ellison does, that Americans will be better off when they are subjected to 'supervision at all times,' then buying microvideo platforms, enterprise software, streaming services, cable networks, gaming developers, & internet publishers is just buying supervision capacity."

As someone with experience on both sides of the fence here (a cartoonist without enough time to do all they’d wish, and someone who recently tried to get others to fill out a survey and was surprised by who didn’t) I encourage anyone UK-based who hasn’t yet done so to get on this asap!

We all love the obvious graphic power of a monumental, centered image on a double-page spread, but artists, please, heed the words of someone who's been doing this for a long time: if your work will EVER be published in book format, the entire concept of designing a DPS this way is off the table.
