So it's welcome to see 5 major UK lenders agree to an £11bn lending package to help small business growth, following a government roundtable.

This help could see SMEs invest, hire more staff, expand into new international markets.

Greater access to breakthrough trials for rare cancer patients Better chance of survival for people with rare cancers thanks to a new government approach to clinical trials and access to breakthrough treatments

I am so grateful we have a Labour government who is doing things like this.

More funding, more research, better clincial trials, more innovative treatments, more collaberation.

All to make breakthroughs in tackling rare cancers.

The National Cancer Plan will soon be published in full, too.

Homicides at lowest level in nearly 50 years, ONS statistics show The 499 homicide cases in the year to September were the lowest in England and Wales since 1977.

Let's hope this positive news gets as much attention as the people who try to convince us that the UK is a murder ravaged hellscape.

Whenever I see new research I find it both reassuring (that L/Covid is taken an inch more seriously) and depressing, as I've lived with it for over 12 months and am exhausted with the exhaustion (& other symptoms). Each paper reinforces the fact that I'm in a cohort of ongoing struggle.

I'll go for 4, but it's a bit of a let down as it really only addresses selling overseas. The increasingly difficult measures restricting visas is completely hobbling our international student cohort coming to UK & the fee structure of HE is built on that market. HE is in real trouble.

There was very good news for the UK Chancellor today as the latest government spending figures shows that December borrowing was £11.6bn, down 38% from a year earlier.

The drop was due to higher tax recipts and even saw publicing spending increase on a year earlier.

The funds will support over 1000 arts venues, museums, libraries & heritage buildings across England.

Areas and organisations that have been previously under-funded will be a focus of the new money.
