16.04.2025 09:08 โ ๐ 168 ๐ 25 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 3This feels quite hollow when the court also decided they didn't need to hear from a single transgender person over the course of their case.

16.04.2025 10:45 โ ๐ 45 ๐ 9 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I don't want women to be legally defined. Any definition will be used to oppress and control us.
16.04.2025 08:04 โ ๐ 436 ๐ 116 ๐ฌ 6 ๐ 12The concept of "sex-based rights" is one of the most insane things I've ever seen. You do not gain rights based on which sex you belong too. If you believe in equality, no sex is entitled to more rights than any other. We don't have "race-based rights" either. That would be apartheid.

16.04.2025 10:58 โ ๐ 32 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1Before anyone in NZ (looking at you in particular, NZ First politicians) decides they want to jump on the disappointing judgment on trans rights in the UK & say its should apply here:
The judgment relies on very specific statutory interactions which do not even close to exist in New Zealand law.
The law determines what is legal. It does not determine what is true; what is just; what is morally and ethically sound and defensible. The history of law is the history of the legal system being wrong on these grounds.
Trans women are women.
regardless of todayโs outcome, it is morally indefensible to have a court ruling on something that affects a population, using evidence and findings that did not consult a single member of that population.

16.04.2025 09:18 โ ๐ 39 ๐ 6 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 1Not-a-lawyer-but
The immensely frustrating thing here is that this opinion hinges on the immutability of sex (to tie all trans people to our "birth sex") while also acknowledging the mutability of sex to justify the exclusion of transitioned men from single-sex spaces.
Degendering for everyone!

The bad news: Many people donโt get enough iron in their diet.
The good news: One ounce of dark chocolate has 3.37 mg of iron
Ladies, thatโs 5.5 ounces a day that you clearly need.
Sorry guys, youโll get your daily allotment with 2.5.

Aroha before politics. THAT was the hikoi!
