On the big screen, Albert Brook's Real Life is the daddy of 'em all (pedants may reduce it to a satire about the making of a documentary). Small screen, Robert Altman/Gary Trudeau's Tanner '88, embedded in and filmed with the real Democratic primaries, granddaddy to West Wing, Thick of It & Veep.

The cameos of Natasha Lyonne and Paul Walter Hauser as Edna Mode and The Underminer were welcome.

Fantastic Four -- First Steps:
I think it's too soon for this live action reboot of The Incredibles. A typical muddle, for example, the way they've reassigned the stretchy invisi girl flaming powers to different characters. Some internet idiot will call that woke, although I nearly dozed twice.

I might come up with something better, but solid picks either Citizen Kane or Little Big Man (make up Maurice Seiderman, Dick Smith respectively, Mark would give the latter the edge due to that obscure Linda Blair gets severe acne picture).

While I detest both, you're right, they are a pair... it's either both or neither. They better include Robin Hood then, to show they have the same lack of judgement of what makes a good script as Ridley.

That said, Mother! and other punctuation inclusive film titles should always be spoken using Victor Borge's phonetic punctuation. This would be consistent with the show's/Mark's speaking numbers in titles ala M3gan and S7ven, etc.

While this proves I'm not allergic to self-indulgence, I'd conversely state I HATED Mother! which has a promising first third before it becomes a self-fulfilled prophet (would that be Onan?) proclaiming his own genius, for which his wife willingly sacrifices herself.

The Fountain, although I think this is because I adore Rachel Weiss, and suspect, if you don't feel that way, you'd lose patience with it. (I wonder if Daniel Craig sings, Rachel Weiss, Rachel Weiss, ev'ry morning you greet me...).

Nothing wrong with modern reconstructions such as Robin and Marian to erm... Time Bandits, but this "how it might have happened" drains Robin of charisma or purpose, and as much as I enjoy Cate in anything, her turn had me jonesing for Tony Robinson's Maid Marian and Her Merry Men.

It's not Crowe's accent that makes that tilt at Robin Hood rubbish, it's another case in point that Ridley doesn't know that he has a terrible script (Prometheus?). So structurally all over the shop, the baddie doesn't even meet Robin until the final reel, and Crowe is given little to do but gurn.

(also, Sunshine, which wastes a lot of good talent on what turns into a third rate Event Horizon retread, put me off almost from the start.... I don't care if Brian Cox (the science one) signed off on it, you can't just restart a sun with a few hydrogen bombs.)

Only Event Horizon (and an episode of Ren & Stimpy) ever got the "space madness" trope right. Sunshine fell at that hurdle, and so did that whole bit with Matt Damon in Interstellar.

Shallow Grave, would be my favorite in any case for its morbid sitcom, Hammer meets Ealing in a flat in E'burgh vibe. But also as I had the blind luck of seeing it before anyone knew about it or Danny Boyle at the London Film Festival (plus if memory serves, cast and Boyle onstage for afters).

In 1990 one of my first ex-pat acts as a potential resident required me to be registered in an office in Lamb's Conduit Street. Something about that had an implication that I was being led to slaughter....
(although the opposite, living with NHS and without NRA).
