Link between flu and Covid-19 with cancer revealed

Oxford BIOBANK + US FlatIron databases. Virus such as Covid and flu increase risk of cancer. New research suggests that respiratory viruses, including Covid-19 and influenza, can awaken dormant cancer cells and cause them to multiply and spread.

6. The great and tragic irony is that the more societies agree to ignore it, by prioritising a yearning for the status quo above all else, the more of a force multiplier our societies become for the virus.

Societies have become the virus's greatest ally.

Let me be clear. As someone who has been professionally involved with the biodefense / biosecurity sector for nearly 20 years, and has worked on biological risk analysis for Covid-19 since early 2020, reducing one's risk of being infected is not health anxiety. It's just smart.

COβ‚‚ levels are a proxy for ventilation. High COβ‚‚ = insufficient ventilation; low COβ‚‚ = ventilation working well.

Long Covid patients gaslit by GPs, Surrey study finds - BBC News The University of Surrey study says patients faced "gatekeeping" of medical treatment from doctors.

"We urge practitioners to treat patient-generated data as a valuable resource. Without this shift, patients with contested illnesses like long Covid risk remaining stuck in a system where they have to be their own doctors."

From the British Medical Journal this week:

"A growing number of scientists believe that the SARS-CoV-2 virus may be subtly altering our immune systems. If correct, their hypothesis will change how we understand everything from RSV to shingles to sepsis."

Long COVID linked to lasting financial hardship and work disruption While the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be widely studied and debated, the financial toll of the COVID-19 pandemic for individual patients is less understood.

The clear benefit of Covid-19 vaccination demonstrated in this study illustrates exactly why limiting access to vaccination is a significant negative to productivity and the economy in general.

If COVID resulted in everyone getting harmless, untreatable, utterly gross pustules covering their entire face for weeks we wouldn't still be in a pandemic.

1. I've said exactly this for quite some time. Expanding on Adrian's @sillyputty78.bsky.social point on X / Twitter here, Covid-19 has three distinct characteristics as a disease that enables it to be denied at a societal level.

CDC ends emergency response to H5N1 bird flu | CNN The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says it has ended its emergency response to H5N1 bird flu, citing a drop in cases.

This is a mistake. The current political situation in the US means that migrant farm workers are very unlikely to engage with any arm of the federal government. It is a huge risk to deprioritise H5N1.

It further suggests that governments should be taking steps to curb the spread of COVID since the disease risks creating significant, costly burdens in terms of chronic mental health problems and reduced (economic) productivity across populations.

It means that there is a risk to everyone who gets infected with COVID. You gamble with your neurological health every time you get infected. Given the high stakes (continuing neurological problems which can rob you of a social, professional or personal life)it makes sense to try to avoid infection.

Two days before the 2016 Brexit referendum, Daniel Hannan wrote about what life would be like in Britain on 24 June 2025. (The least accurate thing ever written about Brexit.)

A week ago, he wrote in the Telegraph that Britain is turning into a third world country.

He got paid for both articles.
