We need to know if they had a warrant. The government cannot do this without a warrant. Even then it’s an incredible excessive of unnecessary force. Hopefully those officers will not receive qualified immunity and face personal liability.

Are you referring to “leadership?” Here’s the thing. I worked in the US Senate. Only Leadership—Senate Majority and Minority leaders and occasionally the Majority and Minority whips are given security.

Why would Padilla have a security detail? That’s not how senators roll. Only the leaders get security.

@steadystatevets.bsky.social if Congress won’t stand up for their own institution, we should. Appropriations law makes clear members need not give notice before any inspection and allows inspections at any time.
