yeah I've spent my life hearing people explain why LA isn't actually the city with the hottest people, and at a certain point it's like... if that was true, people wouldn't need to be trying to find arguments for it. This isn't a value judgement, it's just the reality of the industry!

I also think there's a sort of paradoxical thing where looks matter *less* to a lot of SoCal natives than you'd think, because once you've known a couple head-turningly-sexy people who are obnoxious and horrible, you realize that inner beauty really DOES matter a whole hell of a lot!

this is 100% correct. generalizing here, but when you grow up around people who are professionally hot you learn to stop comparing yourself to them. I don't compare my MMA abilities to a UFC champion and I don't compare my looks to an international sex symbol, because why tf would I?
