Councillor releases results of survey on Lansdowne rethink as final vote looms | CBC News One week before a final vote on the Lansdowne 2.0 redevelopment, an Ottawa city councillor has released the results of a survey that put his concerns about the project to residents β€” but the mayor is ...

"the more people know about Lansdowne, the less likely they are to support it"

@mayormarksutcliffe.bsky.social is counting on people not asking hard questions. He knows when people understand the project, they see all it's flaws.

Where your councillor stands heading into final vote on Lansdowne 2.0 | CBC News The contentious plan to redevelop Lansdowne Park is heading to a final vote at council on Friday, and most Ottawa city councillors have already made their positions clear.

A useful guide from the CBC. The regular suspects are at it again.

Only one day until Mayor Mark Sutcliffe and 15 Councillors vote to saddle Ottawa with half a Billion in debt for Lansdowne 2.0.

Also remember that the next municipal election is in 2026.

Hopefully voters chose a person for their leadership and values, not their party affiliation

Sadly some politicians don't have values or want to lead when it's hard, they just do whatever it takes to win. The answer isn't an expensive by election, it's an engaged and educated electorate.

Every city counsellor in Ottawa, who is in favour of Lansdowne needs to stand up and publicly state that in voting to support this project they’re also in favour of wrecking women’s pro hockey in Ottawa. Cause you can’t have it both ways. Your photos, photo
ops, tell a story

This is shaping up to be big. A mass movement of people telling City Hall ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

To stop throwing away our money. Stop endangering the Charge.

WE NEED YOU to show up so Councillors think long and hard, and understand the consequences, before voting for Lansdowne.

Friday 8:30am.

There are lots of egregious acts (like when Mulroney packed the Senate to force the GST into law) but floor crossing isn't one of them. Politicians should be able to exit a party when it's vision or policies are toxic

The cons love affair with the far right will likely lead to more floor crossing

It's too bad we close the city for 5 months every winter but not surprising with clowns like you in charge 🀑

A look at the many risks of Lansdowne 2.0 | Opinion What happens if, in 10 years, we have no profits, no sports team, and no plans for maintenance? | Opinion

Just now - Councillor @shawnmenard.bsky.social
is interrupted by Councillor @timtierney.ca while asking questions on Lansdowne.

Menard pushes back, then Tierney calls him an "asshole". This behaviour is unbefitting of a councillor, and demands an integrity complaint.

As women's hockey climbs to new heights, the City of Ottawa says think smaller | Opinion PWHL executives Jayna Hefford and Amy Scheer write that it's not too late to change the story on Lansdowne 2.0.

Lansdowne 2.0 doesn’t give Ottawa what it needs. The plan is built around the limits of a public-private deal that leaves the city with hundreds of millions in new debt for a project that won’t serve residents well.

Who says it was fine. Studies show a dramatic improvement in pedestrian health outcomes with lower speeds.

If you don't like the "cash grab", it's simple. Obey the law and don't speed

We're part of a group of organizations taking part in a rally this Friday, 8:30 am, against Lansdowne 2.0.

If you're against the cuts to affordable housing, the lack of public transit improvements, the huge amount of debt that will be taken on and reduce spending for other priorities, join us!

Our @mayormarksutcliffe.bsky.social styles himself as a savvy businessman and at one time seemed to view everything through that lens ("is there a business case for this bike lane?"). Now he's head cheerleader for a project that only works if you accept best-case-possible projections 50 years out.

Worth nothing some important facts about this plan: property taxes are integral to financial numbers and depend on taxes from the towers being used to offset the costs, rather than going towards all city revenues; that’s not how property taxes work anywhere else in city 1/

It still haunts me that this work was delayed because austerity budgets meant that the city didn’t prioritize it. And then it took an extra year of inter-jurisdictional wrangling with the province and the feds. Saloni should be alive. With proper road design, accidents are less likely to be fatal.

I get why Sutcliffe is distorting the truth and pushing this but what's in it for the councillors? People seem overwhelmingly against this yet so many on council just ignore them.

Does Ottawa need another arena? Why aren’t we talking about the 67s playing at Lebreton?

Oh right because this isn’t about sports it is about the profits of real estate developers who threw a fundraiser for the mayor even though he claimed he would take no developer donations.
