The second round of public engagement for feedback on the SPC Comprehensive Climate Action Plan is scheduled for summer 2025. How will that process be managed and publicized to residents and organizations that can help represent the experience of the most affected by climate & systemic oppression?

The first round of SPC "public" engagment took place in 2024 but we did not see these meetings publicized and are very concerned that groups most affected by climate change and systemic oppression were not represented to share their lived experiences and concerns as vital to the process.

But Allegheny County's Climate Action Plan funding will be at least partly shaped by the Southwest PA Commission Comprehensive Climate Action Plan: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://www.spcregion.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/SPC-CPRG-CCAP-4-Page-Fact-Sheet.pdf

Our Bill, currently on the Planning Commission Agenda for next week, would meaningfully create affordability by making it easier to build more dense housing AND requiring that affordable units be, ya know, actually affordable to the people who need it - those making $35k/yr / $17/hr

Great🧵dissecting a terrible bill - if passed, this would give corporate developers a blank check of Pittsburghers' tax dollars to build housing that most of those same Pittsburghers wouldn't be able to afford to rent.

Allegheny County property tax compromise passes
Allegheny County Council approved a 1.7 mill tax hike — lower than the executive wanted, but higher than last week’s counterproposal.
Allegheny County Council ended a two-month budget stalemate Tuesday, voting to raise the county property tax by 1.7 mills, or $1.70 per $1,000 in assessed value, to fund a $1.17 billion operating budget for 2025.
