Yes our leadership up at least 2 levels has technical expertise and it is a godsend.

I’m a principal engineer now which means I’m primary respond for an entire subsystem of our software. It’s the most complicated and least well understood subsystem but at least I have barely any resources to help me (half of an engineer 3’s time).

It’s awesome when it helps a legendary speed run. Less so when it causes a DTC on an OEM executive’s vehicle between Christmas and new year (I have not had this happen to me personally but it is extremely plausible).

But really, at a senior engineer and above level, the job is almost exclusively problem solving and communication and that is the same across disciplines.

The thing about being an embedded software engineer is that a gamma ray at the exact wrong time/place can ruin your month and that’s not something that occurred to me 30 years ago when I decided to be an engineer.

It wasn’t working in any apps, restarted my phone and everything seems to work now 🤷‍♂️

I will say this, I do not like some of her politics but she has been the most public-facing of any politician I’ve had represent me in my 25 years as a voter. To the point that the robocalls inviting me to town halls annoy more than anything.

It's important to note that the HSA is a *really* good investment vehicle so it's worth pumping money into them as long as you're meeting any employer matches for your 401k.
