I think juxtaposing Fiona and Huntress plots was a really smart move for this past season. If it was just Fiona being a girl failure i’d get the criticism. But I felt the show runners really balanced it out with world building that came from HW and all the other characters

My End of Year video is on the "Golden Age of Indie RPGs," from roughly 2010 to 2025. I start with Apocalypse World's release, work through the Google+ Era, and follow design lineages and historical events that have impacted the hobby up through 2025.

I dont nearly enough about the history of the concept but something happens to world building when you introduce the concept of rebirth being possible. Going into the afterlife/underworld, transferring consciousness, true resurrection gets thorny when you ask who gets to make those decisions

I feel like the thing we need to learn about the past couple of years is that who makes art, how they make it, why they make it, matters

oh boy are we talking about games and violence again? War games as a kind of indoctrination? Violence and dehumanization? Maybe sprinkle in a bit of imperialism undertones?

None of this is new. Obojima is just another example of how the difference between making art and making content is context

Corporations are bad. They undervalue human labor and exploit the working class, they prioritize profit over the lives of their employees, and they skirt safety and health regulations wherever possible. We should destroy them.

And no, this isn't JUST because Taco Bell got rid of breakfast. Shut up.

Stop virtue signaling about how much you hate the tech

Start pushing methods to hold these companies accountable.

damn posted this before I caught up on all the newest GenAI nonsense. Let me be a little more direct:

Fuck techno capitalists that developed the tech specifically to get around compensating artists for their work

But until then, I think we’re wasting a lot of energy trying to force it back into pandora’s box. It feels like now, more than ever, it’s important to highlight the human element in the art that we make

But at the end of the day its just another tool. Perhaps after the bubble has collapsed and it’s been wrestled away from the tech industry, we can see it put to use in very creative ways
