Military families, who will probably be far more anti-socialist than other voter groups, live very socialist lives.
The base commander’s children go to the same schools and played in the same sports teams and bands as the lowest enlisted members kids do.
Commissaries, doctor visits… all the same.
A new Apple Immersive Video has dropped: Flight Ready
14 minutes of amazing video from the USS Nimitz. (the UFO/UAP people will know this carrier!)
This is my new favorite.
Did you know Apple is hosting three in-person workshops for visionOS developers?

London - Dec 18-19, 2025

I signed up for the New York event
With Apple significantly growing its services revenue per user, growing its user base with lower cost hardware makes a lot more sense than it did 10 years ago.

A common theory I hear is that Apple doesn't want to encourage regular people to buy the Apple Vision Pro right now until Apple, developers, & creators can figure out strong use cases and create content.
Apple Immersive Video end-to-end tooling is just now coming out.

I feel with the Internet boom and then the mobile boom, new opportunities, businesses, and jobs were created.
With AI, it seems mostly about destruction of jobs and increasing wealth inequality as a very few become incredibly wealthy.
Pre-release? Amazon is showing that it won't be released until Nov 4.

They perform well at finding & rephrasing stuff that is already out there, especially if there is a lot of relevant content and not contradictory content.
E.g., ChatGPT usually suggests *deprecated* SwiftUI APIs and not the newer APIs. Grrr.

Holy sh*t, what timing. The National Nuclear Security Administration is furloughing 1,400 people on a day that I broke the story that a foreign threat actor infiltrated the NNSA's Kansas City manufacturing plant.

Maybe in a month or so I may be looking to contract for some low-poly environments, preferably in Blender. Do you know of good sites that lists artists, shows some examples of their works, and provides price estimates?
I don’t even know what I should be budgeting for. $100, $500, $1000, …?
Huh? Apple is saying its Developer Strap is available for order on Oct 22.
Is this different than the old strap? Does it enable any new functionality?
I wonder if this is to support Apple's new functionality to render content on the Mac and display in AVP?
Apple's visionOS-focused cozy-WWDC, "Create immersive media experiences for visionOS", will be streamed live on YouTube next week.

As a user who doesn’t wear my AVP in public, if the strap makes the AVP more comfortable, I’m all in. I’ve ordered one for my M2 AVP. I hope it helps.
I often wonder if I will run into Kim Stanley Robinson at my local grocery store or coffee shop in Davis, CA. I hope I will recognize him if I do.

Interrupting the "Apple Vision Pro is dead" discussions to remind people that Apple has a 3-day immersive storytelling mini-WWDC next week, live and online (online is only 2 days).
I've registered for the online experience.
Live basketball games coming to Apple Immersive Pro.
I wonder if Apple will highlight a bunch of new content like this when they release the updated Apple Vision Pro in the coming weeks.

I largely gave up interest in the UFO/UAP topic because Congressional people leading hearings are some of the worst human beings, and too many in the UFO community embrace them.
