β€˜Gender Ideology’ Ban is Already Harming Health, Experts Say (Gift Article) Documents purged from government websites include guidelines for safe contraception and information on racial inequities in health care.

SCOOP: Many of the pages that went missing on Friday from the CDC website on Friday have reappeared β€” in response to intense media coverage, backlash from the scientific community and concern for the public’s health.

It’s worse than most folks realize. Since last Sept, journos in Canada haven’t been able to post *any* links to their own work on FB, bc the gov passed a (sensible) law that Meta must share some of the profit it makes off those links, & Zuck threw a tantrum.

Corporate greed, strangling journalism.

What are you going to do about it?

This sucks for many reasons. One is that Rachel is an absolutely essential voice that deserves to be paid for her work so we can get more of it.

Second is that this is another example of how repression of those monitoring hate and extremism has led to far less coverage, endangering us all.

Poilievre’s Free Ride to Power Has to Stop | The Tyee No more getting by with glib and shallow answers to these seven basic questions.

Today's essential read for all Canadians.
Without tougher scrutiny by the news media and fiercer rebuttals by political opponents, Poilievre has no reason to change tactics. But with a federal election looming, it’s essential to put his blanket assertions finally to the test.

No social media platform has prioritized journalism for years. I hope they continue to not suppress links because that’s one of the biggest assets Bluesky has. That’s more meaningful long term than any other feature.

High-vis wearing deer spotted in McBride - The Rocky Mountain Goat The BC COS are asking for the public’s help to confirm the health of the animal while conservation officers determine a course of action.

Our very own McBride reporter Andrea Arnold caught a glimpse of this reflective creature while driving home on Sunday.

The BC COS are asking for the public’s help to confirm the health of the animal as it determines a course of action.

It's trans day of remembrance where we remember all of our siblings we've lost this year to violence and hate. We know we've lost at least 350 trans and nonbinary people have been murdered in the last year.

We honor the dead and fight like hell for the living.

I generally think the thing that has plagued this government is not bad ideas, or misplaced priorities, misidentification of problems or a lack of responses but a relative inattention to the very real value of speed.

THE PARADOX OF TOLERANCE
BY PHILOSOPHER KARL POPPER*
SHOULD A TOLERANT
SOCIETY TOLERATE INTELORANCE?
YOU WANT MORE TOLERANCE?
RESPECT MY IDEAS!
THE ANSWER IS NO.
IT'S A PARADOX, BUT UNLIMITED TOLERANCE CAN LEAD TO THE EXTINCTION OF TOLERANCE.
WHEN WE EXTEND TOLERANCE TO
..THE TOLERANT ONES END UP
THOSE WHO ARE OPENLY
BEING DESTROYED.
INTOLERANT...
AND TOLERANCE WITH THEM.
LETS GIVE THEM A CKANCE!
ANY MOVEMENT THAT PREACHES INTOLERANCE AND PERSECUTION MUST BE OUTSIDE OF THE LAW.
AS PARADOXICAL AS IT MAY SEEM, DEFENDING TOLERANCE...
...REQUIRES TO NOT TOLERATE THE INTOLERANT.

Ultimately, the echo chamber commentary is meant to inoculate the population with increasingly far right and openly fascist rhetoric while also pushing that any other speech is not as important and is based on not understanding the fascists argument. It’s an astroturf. We don’t accept fascism.

At least 67k small businesses on Shopify use Canada Post, and will be affected by them going on strike right on BFCM weekend. Canada Post has a government monopoly on delivering to P.O. boxes and is the only carrier supplying rural areas. This should not be allowed.

At least 67k small businesses on Shopify use Canada Post, and will be affected by them going on strike right on BFCM weekend. Canada Post has a government monopoly on delivering to P.O. boxes and is the only carrier supplying rural areas. This should not be allowed.

Shopify CEO Tobi Lutke is calling for the end of Canada’s public postal service because its workers have gone on strike.

The company’s leaders are increasingly pushing extreme right-wing positions in Canada. Gutting Canada Post would effectively end delivery in many rural and remote communities.
