My son's school wasn't particularly posh, it was an inner city academy, but yes, your point about them trying to keep out a certain type of pupil probably stands.

Which is good. But when my son started at an Academy we had to buy everything branded, including sports kit, and all from one shop so they had a monopoly. £500 all told, and he was growing out of it after a year!
