I still do the SMRPG timed hit inputs out of habit no matter what the game is, even if it doesn't have the mechanic. It's too deeply ingrained in my muscle memory. I can't stop.

The SNES translation said something like "Looting is out of the question!"

Technically the SNES version and not this, the PSX translation, but the PSX FF Chronicles two-disc set contained the first edition that I actually owned for myself.

The only ability I've ever seen in fiction that made me jealous was that bit in Star Wars where C-3PO goes "If you won't be needing me, I'm going to shut down" and then switches himself off so he doesn't have to listen to everyone talking.

The breadth of the job system gives it the best replay value of the series, IMO.
