someday it won't be water-based ink and the pen'll be hosed

i don't really want to solder silver but these fucking rings, i want to wear them but i can't until they're repaired

luckily, i found a kit! with all the stuff in one box! whoo hoo i guess

idk why but it is IMPOSSIBLE to get anybody to repair your broken silver jewelry, absolutely nobody will do it, i've been looking for two decades, you can't even mail the shit off to some silversmith somewhere because they won't work on other people's pieces

i'm gonna buy the gear and fix it myself

yeah i think i think talent is actually that— the introspection, along with the ability to perceive the delicacies of your chosen art lol

idk, i knew a girl in music school who DESPERATELY wanted to be first chair, who practiced ALL the time, who took expensive lessons from top teachers and was always on time and ready to learn, and who had ...absolutely no talent, none. no sensitivity, no tone, no beauty, nothing, her playing sucked

'can't have ALL the schools be good, what if a black or brown person benefitted' - the united states

i think for a long time home equity was the primary source of wealth for most, so that house-first mentality is a cultural habit even though nobody has been able to buy houses for three generations

there is literally no use, you can make cheese from pasteurized milk and people do it all the time

(as long as it's LTLT - long time low temp - pasteurization, the higher temp style denatures the milk protein enough that it might not flocculate)

Limited Effectiveness of Penicillium camemberti in Preventing the Invasion of Contaminating Molds in Camembert Cheese Mold-ripened cheese acquires a distinctive aroma and texture from mold cultures that mature on a fresh cheese wheel. Owing to its high moisture content (aw = 0.95) and pliability, soft cheese is prone...

there's some evidence that it can be protective against molds, at least

however humans make an awful lot of raw milk cheese, tho, and it's really very safe

so perhaps the cooking and the cultures themselves are protective and kill off pathogens? hard to say, you'd need a food science biologist person

if the milk was already contaminated, turning it into cheese would probably not solve that; pathogens could possibly survive if the make temperature was low enough (most cheese recipes heat the milk to encourage the cultures to grow)

idk what it is but there are very, very few decent store dips!

i've tried everything from hummus to bean to spinach artichoke, and store-bought dips are always terrible! which is weird considering how simple most dips are, i don't get it

'free veggies' omelet with hash browns and hollandaise #brunch 🍜

(a co-worker gave me yellow squash, tomatoes, peppers, and onions, which i diced and sauteed in butter for the filling, then added grated Mahon; the sauce is a quick stick blender hollandaise!)

yup, we totally ship!

better to ship in not-summer though, or the box sits on the stoop in the sun and the ice melts and it's a mess

i have a 25 year old waldorf doll, stuffed with carded wool, that i have, for the first time ever, washed (i was always afraid to before, but it really needed to happen)

and even here in the super-dry desert she's still ever so slightly damp after two days of air-drying

she's so clean tho
