Thought I'd share some of my fiction writing for a change. It's the first chapter of a book I've been playing with for a while. I think it's a nice window into the sort of things I write for fun, rather than my "serious" work.

Military bases have well-supplied commissaries because if something goes wrong in the area the base will have independent supply lines established. It has always been (at least domestically) a form of redundancy, but given that other logistical systems are also at risk, this seems... unwise.

No. Ashland, Oregon. Low-key artist/ hippy town in Southern Oregon, although it's gotten less so as rich liberals from the bay area have moved there over the years.

I'm surprised there hasn't been open hostility towards Ashland, tbh. Very small very progressive mountain town with lots of queer folks that most of these whackos could drive to in less than an hour.

The degree to which there are two very, very different Oregons depending on where you live is incredible.

It was a state founded by the Klan as a white supremacist project. In the 70s they actually barricaded I-5 to keep people from coming north from CA.
