Monkey Business by tchimes Intense Monkey Espionage Action

Finally got a web version of my silly little game jam game about a monkey that commits corporate espionage. It's short, but it's the first game I have ever finished and released, me and my buddy did it in a week, and I am proud of that. Give it a quick play!

Right now, working a system where any โ€œpublicโ€ variables are stored in a text file, so teammates can easily make changes to things like walking speed, asset locations, etc, without having to dig through any code.

Iโ€™ve really been enjoying using #Lรถve for game dev lately. Missing some static typing in Lua (Iโ€™ve played with Teal, and Iโ€™m not sure itโ€™s for me yet), but itโ€™s worth it for tables. Tables are ridiculous. #gamedev

Me and a friend completed our first game jam (and first game in general) last week, and it was great! A lot more work than I was expecting, and I wish I had more time to iterate on the map, but I'm very proud of what we did. Check it out! tchimes.itch.io/monkey-busin... #lovejam2025

Watching Winnie the Pooh with the family this morning, and it occurred to me that I would love to hear Matt Berry voice Owl.

I have to admit that Earthside is pretty hit and miss for me, but this song is truly incredible, and the mix is ridiculously good.

Now onto Dead Astronauts!

I read Borne and The Strange Bird back in September and loved those too. Just took a short detour into Area X for a bit there.

Finished reading Absolution from @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social last night. Overall, I loved it! I also started the Southern Reach series in November (just found out about them!), so it was fun to read them all back to back. Iโ€™m looking forward to reading them again, which is atypical for me.

I lived on this podcast in the initial run, so I am absolutely ecstatic that it is back! A lot has changed in that time, and so I understand if there needs to be breaks, delays, etc. I'm just along for the ride, and happy for more BC&IGA.

A meme featuring Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge in The Muppet Christmas Carol asking "You there, boy! What day is it?" and getting the response, "why, it's new Opeth day, sir!" Understandably excited, Scrooge responds with the opening lyric to Opeth's song "The Baying of the Hounds" from their 2005 album "Ghost Reveries"

Hey, Kyros liked my post! Everyone should listen to them too! Kind of like the classic Sonic the Hedgehog soundtrack started to listen to progressive rock. Would recommend. @kyrosofficial.bsky.social

Struggled to find something to listen to today (a problem I seem to have with the infinite options presented by streaming services), and landed on Seven Impale. What a fantastic choice.

If you like prog rock like Haken, but want more King Crimson/Van Der Graaf Generator, check out Seven Impale!

a color coded image by Freya, comparing the summation and capital pi notation in math, to their equivalent in code using for-loops. The summation notation sums a set of elements, while the product notation multiplies a set of elements.

Note that Freya is keenly aware that neither the math notation nor for-loops are fully explained by this image, and that this is only a subset of the use cases, so luckily you don't have to explain that to her, in case you were considering doing that!

btw these large scary math symbols are just for-loops

A pixel art soccer ball

A pixel art soccer ball

Iโ€™ve been wanting to make a video game for years, but Iโ€™ve always been terrible at art. I can do music, audio, and programming, but art has eluded me. Well recently, I decided to give pixel art a shot. I made this soccer ball yesterday, and Iโ€™m pretty proud of it.

Played Outer Wilds (and the DLC) about 2 months ago, and I canโ€™t stop thinking about it. One of the few games that I wish I could forget everything and play for the first time again.

Oh man, the new Opeth single is awesome! So far it sounds like a great combination of their last album, but with some small things from the growly days (although the new single has no growls). Really excited about their album.

For what itโ€™s worth, I already have plenty of Pro Tools and Reaper experience, and Iโ€™ve played around with Unreal, Godot, Monogame, and Wwise a lot, but never released anything. Iโ€™ve also been playing around with Juce and iPlug2 in my free time to try and learn about DSP and VST plugins.

Hey game dev and #gameaudio folks, got a question. My current full time job is not in games (or creative audio), but Iโ€™m thinking about taking the leap, specifically to be a technical sound designer. I already have audio, programming, and IT chops, but no shipped games. What should I be focusing on?

Blotted is a little more like instrumental progressive death metal I suppose? Itโ€™s a Ron Jarzombek band (Spastic Ink, Watchtower). Lots of crazy chromatic guitar playing. I love all of Ronโ€™s stuff.
