🚨BREAKING: A national security official says Donald Trump is in a catch-22 where Iranians are threatening to release videos of him sexually assaulting children if he bombs them, and Israel is threatening the same if he doesn't!

My god! Lock that fucker up!
Leak the videos. The End.

β€œThey are not Japanese in culture. They are foreigners to Japan. Though American citizens, they are not accepted by Americans, largely because they look differently and can be easily recognized. The Japanese American Citizens League should be encouraged, while an eye is kept open, to see that Tokyo does not get its finger in this pie – which it has in a few cases attempted to do. The loyal Nisei hardly know where to turn. Some gesture of protection or wholehearted acceptance of this group would go a long way to swinging them away from any last romantic hankering for old Japan. They are not oriental or mysterious, they are very American and are of a proud, self-respecting race suffering from a little inferiority complex and a lack of contact with the white boys they went to school with. They are eager for this contact and to work alongside them.”

(Historians still debate whether Roosevelt read a brief memo summarizing the Munson Report or the entire thing.)

At President Roosevelt’s order, Curtis Munson gathered intelligence on Japanese-American loyalty to the United States. He submitted his report in November 1941.

In this excerpt, Munson describes the Nisei, 2nd-generation Japanese Americans who lived most or all of their lives in the U.S.:

WE aren't becoming this. The vast majority of Americans do not like this. This is being done TO US by a bunch of deranged lunatics who have the power to do it. We are, however, becoming numb to it.

Hilarious misplacement of the participial phrase. Another one I learned a long time ago: The explorer told us how he had seen cannibals roast and eat a man at the bus station.

Pretty rich coming from an administration that’s censoring and banning valuable information online about our history of slavery, the data behind global climate change, the efficacy of vaccines, and the very real lived experiences and needs of our family and friends in the LGTBQIA+ community.

I know it’s a cliche but books have never let me down. During every really shit time in my life, they’ve always been an escape and a way to not be myself or in my circumstances for a little while.

If I wasn’t a reader I genuinely don’t know what I’d do.

This is hilarious and horrifying at the same time. Irony and schadenfreude in another dimension. Also shows the complete lack of a moral compass on the part of the people think they can define and rule our world.

I think i'm a book snob.

I have a lit degree, read the classics and settled on a modern american lit focus. Most of the books I read and loved for my degree were old, tightly written and well told.

Every time I try to read current fiction, my brain spends the entire experience rewriting the book.

We need to talk about the right’s new voter suppression target: Women The SAVE Act would make it harder for married women in particular to vote, and that is just one part of the MAGA right's misogynist project.

The way that Meta and YouTube designed their products β€” allegedly luring users into a nonstop loop of taps and scrolling β€” is at the heart of this month’s bellwether social media trial, which sets the stage for thousands of similar lawsuits.

Reading a very well received mass market paperback that has left "heroine" in for "heroin" and I'm sorry but that's unacceptable. I've seen people in the indie space reprint entire runs for something like that and they don't have the benefit of editors and proof-readers.
