Mickey Mouse has entered my pubic domain.

27.12.2023 16:21 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0kinda weird that half of the indie rock music put out in the past decade sounds exactly like Suzanne Vega but no one seems to talk about her as a direct influence
27.12.2023 16:32 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0AndrΓ© Braugher in Homicide is still one of the most impressive pieces of acting Iβve seen on TV. His arc in that show was incredible. RIP.
13.12.2023 02:23 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 017th best EP of 2023 for "Translucent Eyes" by Shredded Sun!
12.12.2023 16:24 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks to @rosyoverdrive.bsky.social for dubbing "Each Dot and Each Line" by Shredded Sun the no. 25 best album of 2023! We appreciate the support, they seem to be one of the few music blogs left that listens to all submissions and supports bands without label/publicist support.
06.12.2023 14:52 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0I listened to plenty of obnoxious music but the only track that made me my dad run into my room and yell WHAT IS THIS CRAP was Ventolin by Aphex Twin
03.12.2023 20:16 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1how come cocktails are virgin but beers are nonalcoholic? give me one virgin beer please
02.12.2023 01:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0up at the bar trying to buy a cup full of just lime slices and maraschino cherries (Iβm keto and vegan)

"We are all hurtling, inevitably, toward that one last transition, across the one true binary, the one between life and death. And that binary is the true source of all our regrets, and our joy, too. Regret exists because we all get just one life."
the "Using only a restaurant, tell us where you went to college" prompt is making me sad because Mama Mia's in Williamsburg, Virginia, moved and I can't find a picture of the old location next to campus
29.11.2023 14:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I have complicated feelings about the idea of being a "professional" artist. I would love to just make art and not have to have another job, but there's also something to be said for being a committed amateur/hobbyist and keeping your art separate from how you pay your bills.
28.11.2023 18:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0thinking about changing my name to Nick Cave just so there can be a third cool guy named Nick Cave
28.11.2023 14:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Lol at everyone comparing The Killer to Le Samourai when it's a lot closer to Grosse Pointe Blank.
21.11.2023 16:35 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I probably wouldn't have watched it for the same reason but we were out to dinner near the Music Box and it was starting around when we were done and I had heard good things - glad we ended up going
20.11.2023 17:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was shocked how much I liked The Holdovers. I'm generally allergic to heartwarming but it did a great job of balancing out the warmth with genuine sadness and acidity and not overstating the impact that positive changes in a short amount of time can have. Nothing earth-shaking but a charming watch
20.11.2023 16:10 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I saw them at EB back in the day opening for Black Dice, who they blew off the stage, they were a great live band back then
14.11.2023 21:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My sister is working on launching a platform that will allow health communicators across the country to share resources with each other, thus improving community health services. If this seems like something you might want to help support financially, you can read more about it here.

13.11.2023 16:57 β π 27 π 8 π¬ 2 π 0I was firmly against the βmovies should never be three hours longβ rhetoric until we rewatched the Sound of Music this weekend. That thing must have been edited by a three-toed sloth.

10.11.2023 15:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0lol OK I clearly forgot about the 2010s reunion and new album. But still...
08.11.2023 21:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Was it the Travistan controversy that killed them? Or are they just not interested in doing anything now?
08.11.2023 21:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Does the Dismemberment Plan have any kind of rep any more? No reissues or reunions, never see them mentioned. But as someone who was going to indie rock shows and doing college radio in the DC area in the mid-late-'90s, they were massive and ubiquitous, and "Emergency & I" was a very important album
08.11.2023 21:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0look, I am a political dummy, but it seems like the problem with polling (other than the obvious problem of who is answering phone surveys in 2023) is that it doesn't account for what motivates people to actually go out and vote, as opposed to just preferring one guy over another
08.11.2023 17:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0One of the coolest things my old band ever did was appear on beloved cable-access dance/music show Chic-a-Go-Go. Whatever happened to it, it was so cool?

The new Traveling Wilburys are Sufjan Stevens, Phil Elverum, Adrianna Lenker, and Grouper. All their songs are 45 minutes long, barely audible, and make you want to shrivel like a raisin. Jeff Lynne is still producing and adding terrible synth parts.

Won't be no vaporizing cloud
Now we're gonna have to soak in what we created, too bad!

pretty basic but:
You know that old trees just grow stronger
And old rivers grow wilder every day
Old people just grow lonesome
Waiting for someone to say, "Hello in there, hello"
