I just learned that Bill Mumy, who played Will Robinson in the original Lost in Space, and Lennier in Babbalon 5, was also half of the comedy musical team Barnes and Barnes, who wrote and performed Fish Heads, made famous on Dr. Demento.
Wow.

Good point.
19.02.2025 12:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This seems to be something I do a lot of.
19.02.2025 12:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I laughed our loud a little, which I don't usually do.
02.02.2025 17:12 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes, my youngest turned 35 in November. It's mind blowing!
29.01.2025 08:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Well, those replies didn't seem to be in the order I posted them. Grumble. Still figuring this platform out. But I did number them! So try to read all 9 in order!
24.01.2025 06:23 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I hope we never get there. But I'm telling you now, this is why trans and non binary people are being targeted. I hope it doesn't work the way they want it to, but it could.

Trying to put women "back in their place" is a real thing, that many people have wanted to do for a long time.
/8
It might not be long before women can be fired for getting pregnant, or getting married. Women might not be able to get credit without the help of a man. Maybe she won't be able to own property in her own name. It's a slippery slope.
/7
But, if you can get people to agree that a very tiny minority of the population is "bad" because they don't follow gender expectations, it then followes that anyone who doesn't follow gender expectations is bad, and it's pretty easy to make those expectations more and more restrictive.
/6
It's because if sex/gender isn't accurately assigned at birth, there is no real basis to discriminate against women, because it means that sex/gender doesn't really matter all that much in the definition of what a human is. (And it really doesn't matter that much)
/5
What some people don't seem to understand is that the reason non-binary and trans people are being targeted is not to protect women.
/4
Unfortunately, any arguments which paint women as significantly different from men leads us down a path of "separate but equal", which we all know from the civil rights movement of the mid twentieth century, is not really equal.
/3
I firmly believe that neither sex nor gender makes someone so different from anyone else that their human rights should be different.
/2
Woman's rights have been hard won over many decades. The main path towards women's rights has always been that women are as capable as men, and not so different that they shouldn't be treated as equals.

I've thought something similar. I don't really enjoy "Twitter like" media. But there are good things about this place. Mostly, I like that it's not Meta.

22.01.2025 06:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've been looking for work since May. I just bookmarked that site, I'll take a look tomorrow.
16.01.2025 07:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I really only pay attention to people's I follow and people who follow me. Which works for me. Uninterested in random people.

30.11.2024 02:00 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I still have the default label of the gender assigned at birth. I think the "no label" folks mean well, but just don't realize that I'm already labeled whether I like it or not, and the default label is wrong. (3/3)
30.11.2024 01:59 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It bothers me when people say things to me like "I don't see why you feel you need to label yourself". It bothers me because if I don't choose a new label, such as non-binary, (2/3)
30.11.2024 01:59 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I actually wrote this a couple years ago. It's still true. I think people are less likely to ask why I'm labeling myself now that I have a beard. (1/2)

She can eat goat and sheep milk, but the flavor of goat milk is too pronounced for this application. And that is kabocha squash in the background. My favorite squash for "pumpkin" pie.

21.11.2024 04:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Aside from that, I'd think finding a way to contribute something positive to the world might help, like volunteering somewhere you are unlikely to come into contact with too many horrible people. Habitat for humanity, or reading to children, or something. 2/2
