Letโs see if the afternoon is better for this question.
21.10.2025 19:41 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Congrats. That's good stuff.
18.10.2025 19:01 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I hear Iron Maiden when I look at this.
18.10.2025 14:33 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Historians of Germany, fascism, & the Second World War: any suggestions for recent book chapters/articles that examine the historiography of Nazi Germany along the lines of those in Kershaw's rather dated The Nazi Dictatorship: Problems & Perspectives of Interpretations? It's for a senior seminar.
17.10.2025 14:15 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 5 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 1โWoke has no place at the Alamo,โ Buckingham said of the building where everyone famously acquiesced to the rule, wisdom and customs of those in power.
15.10.2025 16:12 โ ๐ 20 ๐ 8 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I think this is exactly right.
08.10.2025 03:08 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Iโve seen them 3 times. The Mindcrime tour opening for Metallica on their Justice tour, the Tribe tour (2004?), and the last one was about a week before they broke up. The first two were fantastic, the last one was not. There was a real hostility on the stage that night. Weirdest show Iโve seen.
01.10.2025 16:59 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I think theyโre much closer to Maiden than Crue. Their first couple albums have a real edge to them. And some of their most recent ones are pretty good too, even if the band probably shouldnโt be called Queensryche anymore.
01.10.2025 15:50 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Queensryche is also one of my favorites. Operation Mindcrime is a perfect album, in my opinion and Empire is also really good. Iโd say they fall under the metal umbrella somewhere. Maybe progressive metal?
01.10.2025 15:43 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Canโt go wrong with Ritchie Blackmore. Though sometimes Slayer hits just right.
01.10.2025 15:23 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Maybe some Iron Maiden or Scorps too.
01.10.2025 15:16 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It could get a little riffier around these parts.
01.10.2025 15:03 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0This thought-provoking piece is worth a read (take two).

Very difficult for that long time Republican to come to terms with what his party both laid the groundwork for and for what it has become.

The Brits (and other Europeans) refer to it as the First World War. I went to a conference in Birmingham long ago and was greeted with surprise about us Americans calling it World War One or World War Two.

You know things are going well when a school district tries to attract students by touting its metal detectors in a tv commercial.

12.09.2025 16:17 โ ๐ 79 ๐ 17 ๐ฌ 5 ๐ 2The idea that an instructor can and *should* be fired for daring to teach something not explicitly mentioned in course catalog is the pinnacle of the "students as customers" idiocy that's been steadily destroying American universities for decades now.
You're taking a class, not buying a product.
A top 50 US university yesterday fired an instructor, a department chair, and a dean because a course made some reference to transgender people without the brief official course description in the catalog saying โtrigger warning: gender.โ
In conclusion, those intolerant lefty kids, cancel culture.
And not to be dramatic, but itโs never a bad thing to have a non-abstract sense of the murderous lengths American corporate and governmental power structures will go to in order protect themselves. None of this is ancient history.
