Historians of Germany, fascism, & the Second World War: any suggestions for recent book chapters/articles that examine the historiography of Nazi Germany along the lines of those in Kershaw's rather dated The Nazi Dictatorship: Problems & Perspectives of Interpretations? It's for a senior seminar.

I think this is exactly right.

I’ve seen them 3 times. The Mindcrime tour opening for Metallica on their Justice tour, the Tribe tour (2004?), and the last one was about a week before they broke up. The first two were fantastic, the last one was not. There was a real hostility on the stage that night. Weirdest show I’ve seen.

I think they’re much closer to Maiden than Crue. Their first couple albums have a real edge to them. And some of their most recent ones are pretty good too, even if the band probably shouldn’t be called Queensryche anymore.

Queensryche is also one of my favorites. Operation Mindcrime is a perfect album, in my opinion and Empire is also really good. I’d say they fall under the metal umbrella somewhere. Maybe progressive metal?

Can’t go wrong with Ritchie Blackmore. Though sometimes Slayer hits just right.

Maybe some Iron Maiden or Scorps too.

It could get a little riffier around these parts.

The Brits (and other Europeans) refer to it as the First World War. I went to a conference in Birmingham long ago and was greeted with surprise about us Americans calling it World War One or World War Two.

The idea that an instructor can and *should* be fired for daring to teach something not explicitly mentioned in course catalog is the pinnacle of the "students as customers" idiocy that's been steadily destroying American universities for decades now.

A top 50 US university yesterday fired an instructor, a department chair, and a dean because a course made some reference to transgender people without the brief official course description in the catalog saying “trigger warning: gender.”

And not to be dramatic, but it’s never a bad thing to have a non-abstract sense of the murderous lengths American corporate and governmental power structures will go to in order protect themselves. None of this is ancient history.

Couldn't agree more. An accessible economic history that demonstrates the fundamental importance of economics to the Nazi state. It's truly an outstanding book.
