I think the advent of Esports kinda put in player's heads the idea that the point is to clipfarm and pull off hyperspecific tech (which can supplement your gameplay) but ultimately, as long as you're in the right place at the right time adding value it doesn't have to be fancy.

YouTube videos can be okay guides, but if you're really new I think it's better to just test out things in the range and bot mode then try them on real players in qp because you don't really know who is feeding you reliable information yet. Experience is the best teacher.

Rivals should add a way to assign emotes to a specific button. As it stands now, you have to open the command wheel in order to emote afaik. In most games I assign a fun one to a button so I can quick tap it in the heat of battle after getting a kill or something lol.

When I think about my best plays and fun moments from OW etc it doesn't really dip into "but it sucks now." I don't let that sully it. That's got nothing to do with the past and how it felt then. I'm not part of that. It stops at "I had a good time :)" albeit some nostalgia.

It was disappointing but I have other things. Life goes on. And that's where the media that'll never fail you like you're talking about can come in handy. Nice to replay and be reminded of peak lol.

I know you didn't ask but it was *kind* of brought up so I thought I'd elaborate a little bit lol. No $50+ bundles yet. You can also grind dailies in vs. ai mode so it's less stress.

The monetary system is the most fair by far out of Apex, Overwatch, or anything else I've played. It's super easy to rack that stuff up just by playing normally and doesn't break the bank to pay any extra. BP includes lots of currency too. Of course it could change! But that's my current opinion.

I know what you mean by soured because Overwatch kinda fell off for me after a while with botched handling of things. Which is why I'm now on Rivals! 😁 And I'm enjoying it very much for what it is right now. All that matters. Ofc, I got my replayables too. Ocarina of Time got me. 🙌

To me, the excitement and fun memories makes the experience worth it even if something could change later. I still got something out of it. And then I move on when it's not for me anymore. Matter of perspective I guess. I do both.
