I'm seeing terms like "straight-arm salute" and "fascist salute" being used by some media today... those are not real terms. Google's Ngram Viewer has zero results for either one. It's a "Nazi salute," folks, just fucking say it. This shit's too fucked up to use hedgy language.

In this way, manipulating curricula helps institutions engender an uncritical populace that is less likely to question the status quo, recognize/resist inequality, or demand change. By controlling the narrative, elites influence generations in ways that preserve their power.

Distorting history intentionally minimizes or erases the struggles of marginalized groups, thus making it easier to maintain existing social hierarchies and avoid accountability for past wrongdoings.

By altering or omitting key events, such as social injustices or waves of political dissent, elites promote a version of the past that supports their current agenda.

No one understands the true power of objective history better than the powers that distort it. Institutions often seek to distort social studies curricula because controlling the narrative gives them the power to shape public perception, reinforce political ideologies, and maintain authority.

Moreover, history empowers students to engage meaningfully in political processes, hold institutions accountable, & confront systemic issues, ensuring that societies evolve in ways that are just, sustainable, and capable of meeting the challenges of an interconnected world.

When honest history is taught, void of distortion/omission, it helps build a shared sense of identity, solidarity, & mutual respect across diverse communities, which inevitably promotes social cohesion & reduces divisions.
