Literally our job is to ask hard questions, tell hard truths, and sometimes to relax it a little and celebrate good things.

But it is not and should not be a situation of "winning" or "losing." Be suspect of anyone who frames what ought to be a public service that way.

All I'm going to say.

I don't want to be a font of hot takes and commentary. It's exhausting and I only have so much time and mental energy, some of which I want to allocate to, yannow, positivity and joy.

So I'm gonna just say this once and not discuss this again:

Journalism isn't about winning or losing.

This right here. I don't really resonate with her music, either, but that doesn't make her not talented, and her art means something to a lot of people I love. Live and let live, man, good rule.

I admit I wonder sometimes if I'd book more often if I was open to parasocial relationships and being marketable rather than being a dadaist sillyperson.

But my mental and physical health are more important and I'm not being paid to act on Bsky/FB so I'm not acting on Bsky/FB.

Make believe is exhausting if I'm not being paid.

The other thing is that making your IRL-you into a product...makes it cease to be your real-life self. It's just yet another vector of "marketing," and I really don't like that.

Acting is living truthfully in imaginary circumstances. Making yourself the product is…living inauthentically in reality.

I just do not understand making YOURSELF fake. Like, we're actors, I enjoy performing to tell stories, but I don't want to be made a character myself. I can't stand not being authentic, and I think acting is best when it itself is supported by authenticity too!

(Also I love this character so damn much! She has such a tonal whiplash that was super fun to play around with, like, I live for this type of rapid-fire humor challenge. I appreciate Kyle and Keegan letting me go nuts in the booth!

I need to take care of some major home repairs before I redo my website, but it's not NOT on my mind. It's just a pain in the ass to keep hopping from social media site to social media site and finding everyone again.

One of the largest school districts in the nation, which was taken over by the state of Texas, deciding to shut out local media (us at chron.com and the Houston Chronicle included) should be a bigger story imo

I built most of my business on social media so I'm not entirely sure myself. But I am going to join my local LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce and start attending more in-person networking events to see how that works.
